I am trying to obtain information related to my GG Grandfather Richard
Gorman b1822 and my GG Grandmother Mary Anne Sherwood b 1829. I am assuming
they left Ireland about 1850 since their eldest child is recorded as being
born in 1851 in Quebec City, Quebec Canada.
Once in Canada they settled in Quebec City area between 1852-55,and arrived
in Ottawa Ontario in the 1860s. I have not been able to establish their
movements in Quebec ,but the 1871 census for Ontario shows that
they had five children ( four listed as being born in Quebec):
Eleanor (possibly Ellen) b 16 April 1851 Quebec, Quebec Canada. Married
Thomas Matthew Coligan in Ottawa (d 26 Apr 1921 Prescott Ontario Canada)
Mary Anne b 1854 Quebec Canada
Elizabeth b 1856 Quebec Canada
Peter b 1865 Ontario Canada
Robert Bernard b 1861 Quebec (d 1926 Ottawa Ontario Canada) ( My
great-grandfather)Married Margaret Redmond b1939 d1939 Ottawa

Children of Robert Bernard & Margaret all born in Ottawa
-Ann "Anna" Violet Gorman b1881 m. Francis James Brennan
-Richard Joseph Gorman b 1884 m Gertrude Mary Travers
-Margaret "Eva" Evelyn Gorman b1886 m. Edward Patrick Dowd
-Edward John Anthony Gorman b1889 m Ellen Germaine
-Bernard Patrick Gorman b 1892 m Mary Florence Fahey
-Peter Leo Gorman b 1893 m Clair L Lachance
-William George Gorman b 1896
-Ethel Mae Gorman b1898 m. Joseph Dowd
-Arthur Ambrose Gorman b1902 m Hilda Monica Findlay
-Cecil Edward Gorman b1904 m Alice Shorter
-Francis Wilfred Gorman b1907

Richard and Mary Anne died months apart in 1876 in Ottawa as recorded in the
register for Notre Dame RC church. Their gravesites are unknown, but are
probably unmarked in the Notre Dame Cemetery in Ottawa.
The family still maintains roots in Ottawa.

If any researchers have information about or connections to this family I
would appreciate hearing from them.

Thanks,
Brian Gorman
