Kristin,
I came across your message and have some addititonal information for you. Antonia Zielaskowski was the daughter of John & Rosalia (Ruczinski) Zielaskowski. Antonia & Frank Gorski were married in Posen, Presque Isle Co., MI and they lived there at least until after 1907 when their first daughter was born and died. I assumed Antonia died and was buried in Presque Isle Co., MI but have never found death information so she very well may have died in Detroit, if they moved there. In the 1930 census Frank is living in the household with his inlaws, John & Rose Zielaskowski. He has no wife listed and no children. In 1905 he is also listed as a boarder in their house in Alpena, MI.
There are a number of other Gorskis in the area. Frank is the son of John Gorski, b. 21 Oct 1853 in Germany; d.11 Apr 1907 in Alpena, Alpena Co. MI
Do you have death information & source for Antonia's death?? Do you have birth sources for their children??
Do you know anything more about Martha Malinowski? When did they marry?

Descendants of John Zielaskowski

1 John"John Anthony Zielaskowski Sr., Zielaskowskieg" ZIELASKOWSKI
b: 31 Jul 1861 in Prussia
d: 02 Feb 1920 in Alpena, MI
+Rosalia Ruczinski "Rose Rucinska Rosa" ZIELASKOWSKI
b: 10 Sep 1863 in Prussia
m: 21 Nov 1881 in Catholic Church, Posen, MI
d: 22 Jul 1942 in Alpena, MI
1930 Census: 17 Apr 1930 Alpena, Alpena Co.
Thank you very much for your response to my posting! I do indeed have both of those death notices from the Dziennik newspaper. I am simply at a loss for more information on Regina's family and Ludwik's parents and siblings. Thank you!

There is a Zmarli in the Dziennik Chicagoski newspaper. That's not exactly an obituary. It's a listing of burial permits that were given.

There is a Regina Polus who died on 18 Feb 1912
With her Zmarli being printed on 21 Feb 1912

It does make a note that she was 99 years of age.

There is an obit in the same paper for Ludwik Sawicki

Date Of Death: 03 July 1937 Date Of Obituary: 03 July 1937

If you want me to get these for you, send me a message. I'm a huge fan of obituaries, for all the family members listed along with their relation to that person. You might end up with a handful of names to hunt down.

P.S. I'm hunting Polus too, I just don't think ours are the same. But I'm often at the Polish Museum in Chicago, looking things up. So it's no bother.

Greetings,
Looking for a possible family connection. My ggg grandparents John and Regina (Gorski) Polus had nine children in Germany/Poland. Regina was born about 1812 and immigrated to the US, specifically Chicago, IL in the late 19th century. Believe she came across the "pond" with her son Jan (John)who was born about 1855. Regina lived with her granddaughter Stanislawa (Wieczorek)and her husband Ludwik Sawicki in 1910. Unfortunately, Regina passed away in 1911 and is buried in an unmarked grave in Holy Cross Cemetery in Calumet City, IL.
Any information about this family would be appreciated! Thank you!

I'm looking for information on Sigmund Albert Gorski, who was born on 18 February 1925 in Leisenring, PA, and died 13 July 2001 in Miami, FL).

His parents were Frank (Francis?) Joseph Gorski (1894-1978) and Sophia/Sophie Ludmila Honisek (1902). I'd like more information about his siblings, either parents' family, and if possible, his life after NC.

He was my grandfather, but left my mother's family when she was young. I have several documents from his time in the service, but not much else to go on.

Thank you for any help you can provide.

I don't know if this will be helpful or not. I got this information from my 91 year old grandmother (Stehpanie Stojeba) and it is all based on her recollection of the events:

FELIX ZUKOWSKI married ANNA OSTROWSKI; they had four children: Stefania, Peter, Nellie, & Joseph.
Anna's sister (VALICKA OSTROWSKI) married JOSEPH TARNOWSKI.
Anna's husband (Felix) died in Oklahoma coal mining accident.
Joseph Kornliewski came and got Anna (and the children) and brought them to West Frankfort, IL. Eventually Anna and married Kornliewski; they had one child (HELEN).

STEFANIA ZUKOWSKI married JOSEPH ANIOLTOWSKI when she was 16 or 17. (It was an arranged marriage to 40 year Joseph; my understanding of the arrangement was that Joesph would get Peter (Piotr) to America but as you know that never happened.)
Stafania and Joseph were married about 8 years and then Joseph died. They had one child (WALTER JOSEPH ANIOLTOWSKI); he is my father. Stefania eventually remarried to Frank Stojeba; they had one son (RAYMOND STOJEBA).

When my father (Walter) went into the miltary during WWII, the Marine Corps mistyped his name and it was changed to AULTOWSKI. Instead of correcting it, he just left it that way.
I have a Joseph Gorski in my family's past but don't know alot about him I do know that he was born in 1855, and had one brother and two sisters. I also know his parents names. Have you been able to get any more information on your Joseph Gorski? If so, I would like to see if it's a match. Thanks

I do know that he has a brother and two sisters. I also have his parents names. If you have any information on Joseph, I would love to see if it's a match. I have more info on stuff from Poland, but not since he immigrated. Thanks

This is not my line; although, I think they may have married in somewhere along the line...I just wanted to pass on this information.
While researching the parish records in this village at the LDS Family History Library I kept coming across this name, GORSKI. The films were from the 1700's thru present day; and this family was all over in this town.

You should be able to find more of this information in the 1930 United States Federal Census.

Go to "Search" and type in "Gorski / Gorsky". Then go to the left side and click on "Census" after that, click on 1930 Census and you should get a list of Gorski's. Scroll down at that page and type in Frank Gorski / Gorsky, this should give you a list of all the Frank Gorski's / Gorsky's

How would the 1930 census help me? I already have it, along with the 1920 census and there is two different immigration dates. Plus the documents don't give me any information that I don't already know. :/ Gorski is a way too common of a surname , especially in Poland, to find anything with only vague information.

If anyone has any information on my family please contact me! Thanks :)

My great-grandfather:
Franciszek Gorski (went by Frank Gorski AND Frank Gorsky)
Born: Somewhere in occupied Poland on April 28,1892
Immigrated to America: 1913
~Lived in Pennsylvania and then West Virginia (I've heard also either Chicago or New York before Pennsylvania)...he worked in the coal mines. ~
Died: August 12, 1945 in McDowell County, West Virginia

Frank's father (my great-great grandpa) is listed as Jozef (Joe) Gorski from Poland on his death certificate, but I have no idea if he even came to America. Any info? Frank's Mother also is from Poland. maiden name unknown.

My great-grandmother: who married Frank in 1917.
Mary Gorski (maiden name slawiska or slawinska) we think maybe they forgot a letter n on her death certificate. I also believe her name was Maria,Maryja because that is more European/Polish.
Born: January 1, 1896 in Austria occupied Poland.
Immigrated to America: 1912
Died: December 10, 1958 in Detroit, Michigan

Mary's death certificate has father listed as Harry Slawiski who was also born in Poland. Harry probably wasn't his real name. Mary's mother was also born in Poland, maiden name unknown.

I have my families 1930 census. Both Mary & Frank were listed as Aliens. Had five children (oldest to youngest)
~Annie Gorski
~Joe Gorski
~Frank Gorski
~Rosie Gorski
~Johnny Gorski

Steve & Anne Gorski

Has anyone ever heard of Steve and Anne Gorski who have a daughter Susan?

I found a Christmas card written to my Grandmother from Cousin Anne Gorski and no one in the family seems to know who that is. The card is a picture of a baby named Susan and says from "Steve, Anne & Susan Gorski." I'm guessing the card was sent in the early 1960's.

Any help in finding this family would be appreciated!

Thanks!

-Beth
