Thomas William Gotham b 1872 Staffordshire

If anyone has an interest in Thomas William Gotham (who later became known as Thomas B Gotham), the Journal of the American Art Pottery Association published a comprehensive article by Kirby William Brown in the July/August 2008 edition of the Journal. A back copy of this edition was still available to purchase online when I last looked at the American Art Pottery Association's website.

I too an descended from John Henry Gotham. In turn his son Henry Rockford Gotham 1762-1838)and his son Solomon Ulin Gotham(1794-1849)and his daughter Fidella Gotham (1831-1915).
I am interested in the ancestors of John Gothan born: 1700 and married to Martha Collins on 5 January 1726. Would appreciate any information.

I have a Relation Peltin Gotham who is married to Emily Crandall but none of their children are named Sanford. The children's name I have are: Oscar, Amasa, Lawford and Montrose. Nothing in my tree about Frederick Ward Gotham or Ward P. Gotham or Frank Sanford. Can you supply more dates and birth places? My email address is WA7ZXL@msn.com.

The John Gotham born in 1668 married Martha Collings. They had a son, John Henry Gotham born in 1720. Martha Collings was born in 1678 and died in 1723. I do not have a birth place for either one.

I have the same except John Henry was born in 1720 in Nottinghamshire, England. He married Dorothy Rhynes/Rhines on Nov. 25,1753 at the St. John's church in Portsmouth,NH and they have 8 children Do you need the names? My line comes down from their son Henry Rockford Gotham Sr. Also this may help.

About Gotham, John Henry
BIOGRAPHY: He landed in Portsmouth,N.H. approx. 1750 They had 7/8 children. He is memtioned in `They Came To Fish` as follows: `In March of 1765, The Globe Tavern passed into the hands of John Gotham (Goatum) who had previously lived near the swing bridge. Here ,in 1763, he had given roof to Henry Golden,an upholsterer,fresh out of London. Gotham described the Globe as being ` about two miles from the Town house,on the great road to Boston.`
Another reference is made to it in Garvins New Hampshire taverns guidebook. `At a concord stage newspaper advertisment of John Goatum`s Globe Tavern,Portmouth Plains, New Hampshire Gazette,1765. Goatam prided himself on the quality of the `enterainment` he was able to offer, whether in providing `Dishes in High renown,``the best of hay,`or `genuine punch.` In May of 1767,Moses Howe took the Tavern over from Gotham. John died after 1777. It is believed that he returned to England sometime before 1800 to settle a Gotham estate and never returned. Given his advanced age it is likely he simply died there.
The L.D.S. files show a John Gotham baptized Nov.11,1727 in Teignmouth,Devonshire,England. He was the son of John Gotham and Martha Collings who were married Jan 5,1726. These could be close relatives. They are listed in Charles T. Gotham`s records as a possibility.

I certainly knew your grandmother Irene she was my Grandfather Phillip's (better known as Perry Gotham) older sister. They both lived on Parrot's Pointe on Mullett Lake, Michigan. I also have information on the eldest brother George Gotham, sister Grace Gotham Rutherford and know many of the Parrot Family from Mullett Lake/Indian River. You have the George Gotham and Joseph Montney connections right. Your Grandfather Frank was also married to an older sister of Irene who died rather young.

I have posted several times previously, but not since early 2002. Pamelia Slate Gotham would be my great great grandmother and is buried in the cemetery at Cape St Vincent NY. I have not visited the grave site but have verified through records found in Clayton, NY while visiting there. You may have visited the cemetery or have additional information on the John and Pamelia Slate Gotham family.

My grandmother's grandparents were George Gotham and Frances Montney, and her parents were Frank Parrot (1867-1938) and Irene Mae Gotham (1883-1971). I do not have any information on any of here other siblings. I believe her great-granparents were Joseph Montney (1788-1883) and Sarah Smith (1806-1908)

Hello, am trying to find any pictures or information on Merritt D. Gotham (born 1869 in Brownsville, NY and died 1897 in Watertown) or his father Darwin B. Gotham (born 1844 in Watertown, NY and served in Civil War and died 1913 in Watertown, NY). Both owned the Brownsville Iron Works in Brownsville, NY.

George Gotham appears from the transcribed 1850 NY Jefferson / Clayton census to have been the 1st child of John Gotham and Pamelia (or Permelia) Slate Gotham. George would have been born in 1839. Myron Gotham was their 2nd son and is buried in Richland WI. George married Frances Montney however in the Montney family tree his name is spelled Gothem. I am looking for more information on George. Marriage, death, burial records, etc. His daughters Elma married George Parrott of Shabbona Mi, Grace married Guy Rutherford and Irene married Frank Parrott of Indian River MI (his 2nd wife)

I have done some research, but, I have nothing that is verified. If you go into the world tree, type in Oscar Gotham and y0ou should be able to back pretty far in the family. Charles N. Gotham married my gggrandmother, Mary nee Smith Wakefield 26 Sep 1885 in Janesville Waseca County MN. Charles' obit states he was b.Watertown Jefferson County NY, 24 Nov 1885. d. 26 Nov 1896, buried in Janesville Cem. No death record in Waseca, may have died in Winona County MN. Moved to MN in 1869, Meriden Steele County. Does this fit anyones family? marciarichards@chartermi.net

George married Frances Edwards Montney, they were parents of my grandfather Perry, who had several older siblings, including George, Grace and Irene. I'm certain there were others. My grandfather Perry was born in Shabonna, MI

I do not know if we are related, but My G-Grandfather was Oscar Gotham. His father was John Gotham, DOB 06/14/1826. My father was Kenneth Gotham Waid. He/we/they lived at Parfreyville, Wisconsin. His father is Ward P. Gotham, b. abt. 1878 in New York, md. Agnes ______, b. abt. 1889 in New York with two sons, Frederick above and Frank Sanford....
Ward P's father is Sanford Gotham and mother is Millicent A. Stacy.....
Sanford's father is Peltin ?sp Gotham and mother is Emily ______.
Does anyone fit into this line. I believe they would have been located in Upstate New York from Buffalo to Williamstown, Oswego County. Maybe in Watertown, Jefferson County, New York.

My mistake Lottie is my great grandmother. Her first name is actually Charlotte. But I'd still like information on Lawrence Edmonds & Lottie (Charlotte) Gotham & their children. Lottie died on June 12,1979. Lawrence Died in 1982 if I recall correctly. I'm am currently trying to retrieve the Gotham family album from my grand father Robert Edmonds. Lottie was his mother.
