Classification: Query
Surnames: Gott, Peet, Wright
My ancestor Michael (Micah) Gott came to the United States
from Lincolnshire, England about 1852 with his daughters
Mary and Sarah (His wife Mary whom he married in 1845
had apparently died). He also came with his brother Richard
H. Gott and his wife Sarah Peet; and another brother David.
They first went to Seneca Falls, New York where their older
half-brother William Gott was living (He had come to the U.S.
in 1834). Charles Gott, a full brother of Wm Gott, also
came to the U.S. between 1849 and the early 1850's.
David died in Seneca Falls in 1856. Michael left for Ohio
in 1861 with his daughters, but died there later that year. His
brother Richard who was living near Cincinnati at the time took
the youngest daughter Sarah with them, but do not know
where his other daughter went. Charles Gott was in Franklin County, Ohio in 1860, then soon thereater moved to Putnam County, Ohio, thus was the closest relative when Michael died.
A cousin William Gott, who married Elizabeth Wright,
lived in southern Michigan, not too far away either.
A this Gotts are grandchildren of Erasmus Gott (1765 -
1843) of Lincolnshire, England.
Would like to correspond with anyone related to the above
Gott family. I am decended from Michael Gott's daughter
Sarah.
