Hello Family Members-
I have been trying to track down the American Indian heritage of Amable Goudreau and his wife Marie Vallier Broulliard. It has been mentioned that she was some part Chippewa-was this from a Canadian tribe-she supposedly came from Collingwood, Ontario. Also, there has been a rumor that Amable was some part Sioux-most likely Dakota. I have found that he owned land in Minnesota (where I live now)and that is the land of the Dakota Sioux. A geneologist here told me that frequently French men had several families, some with Indian wives. They would often send their sons by these women back to Quebec for educations. A bit about me***my grandmother was Eunice McLeod Stevenson and her grandparents were Amable and Marie Goudreau. Please help if you know anything out there. It has been great fun reading all your messages.
