I came across a history book that convincingly refuted the possibility that this is my line. I knew my evidence was a bit thin, but it was a shocker to find a book that named every person I was certain about and then went back a couple of generations.

Thanks for your message. Since John's line is not the only one to pop up in Illinois, I wonder if any brothers of his also migrated there. I don't know enough about the history of Wyalusing or Illinois to guess what might have driven him away or drawn him in. If you find any links to George, Michael or Jacob, I'd love to hear about them.

Thanks again for this information.

I am looking for information on Andrew Grabbe, who appears to have brought his wife Anne and children to Wyalusing Pennsylvania from Germany in the first half of the 1800's. As best as I can tell, his son John moved to Illinois and fought for the Union in the Civil War. John was my great grandfather. I'm trying to verify that the two John Grabbe's are one in the same. Thanks in advance for any information you can share!

DOD February 23, 1971, he was 57 when he died. His name is Joseph Grabbe, I believe he was from Germany, he married my grandmother who was from Sweden. They had 2 boys: Joseph and Adolf as well as 2 girls: Eva and Mary. Unfortunately the family never spoke of him so I have little information other than he was a painter. I

Grabbe/Kirchoff families - Indiana

I am descended from the Kirchoff family that lived in Freelandville. Henry Charles Kirchoff was the son of Henry E. Kirchoff and Augusta Grabbe. Would you have any information on this Augusta Grabbe? Augusta was born Sep 17, 1856 and died Dec 09, 1895 in Freelandville. Henry was born Mar 28, 1853 and died Apr 26, 1911. They were married Dec 09, 1875. Any help would be appreciated. I am stalled on both of these families since they were fairly new to the country.

Thanks,
Cheryl Wright
