My great aunt, youngest daughter of Josef and Johanna (Leschik) Kalus and sister of Josefa Kalus, married German soldier Valentin Werner. They were married 4 days when he left for the Russian front and was never heard from again. The name changed to Grabinski/fem.Grabinska after 1945. Martha lived in Schoenwald/Swierzce outside of Rosenberg/Olesno until her death a few years ago. She never remarried, so remained Martha Grabinska. My mother and I traveled to Upper Silesia in 1992 and met with her at the site of the former Gut/Estate of Baron Von Studnitz (dau. Helga still living). Martha was able to furnish my mother with the only surviving photo of her as a child dated about 1932 in Alteneichen/Borosow and her mother who died in 1932 in Rosenberg/Olesno.
