Walter Grabinski, 87, died Thursday, September 8, 2005, at his residence in Erie. He was born in Erie September 4, 1918, son of the late Stanley & Gladys Zbikowski Grabinski. He is survived by a daughter, Sylvia Woods of Fairview; a son, Robert W. Grabinski and his wife Carol, of Lancaster, N.Y.; a son-in-law, Neil Woods; three grandchildren, Brian Grabinski, Michael Woods and Amanda Woods; a brother, Leonard Grabinski; and four sisters, Mary Duskus, Jennie Pazdziesz, Stella Kelly, and Dorothy Fuller. Many nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Jarmolowicz, on September 6, 1986; three brothers, Ted Gray, Louie Grabinski, and Raymond Grabinski; and a sister, Sophie Orlowski. He was a U. S. Coast Guard Veteran of World War II and participated in the D-Day Invasion of Normandy. He retired from Erie General Electric and was a member of the G. E. Quarter Century Club. He was a Life Member of the Polish Falcons Nest 123, a member of the East Erie Turners, the Foresters, The American Legion Post 771, and the Huzar Club. He enjoyed his smokehouse. Friends may call at the Mark G. Razanauskas Funeral Home, 701 East Avenue, Erie, Saturday from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., and Sunday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., where a prayer service will be conducted Monday morning at 9:30 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Casimir Church at 10 a.m. Interment Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
