Hello everyone, my name is Genevieve Gracia Flores. I recently became curious where my middle name came from. I use it very proudly, it is my mother's last name. She was born in Sonora, Mexico, where we have a big Gracia family. When having conversations with my great uncle's who are still living they share stories of their upbringing and, they all too reside in Sonora, Mexico. My mother, five sisters and I all reside in Arizona. Yes, I can relate, Garcia is not my name, it's Gracia.

lol yes i agree!!! my name is Maxy Gracia and i cant stand it when ppl assume that my name is GARCIA. I have been through so many problems with different documents because they have always spelled my last name wrong. lol its as if they think i dont know how to spell my own name i mean who freally mispells their name!!!

Hi..My Grandfather's name was Francisco Gracia and he was born in Arizona in 1918..I don't know were he might have more relatives..

Hi Maria,
I am in this family tree also and found information on labs.familysearch.org under Records.
Santiago Gracia and Ma Guadalupe Cantu were married January 3, 1844 in San Felipe De Jesús, China, Nuevo León, Mexico. General Bravo I have learned is also called Rancho del Toro, and this area is near China, Nuevo Leon. I find all the family records listed in China at San Felipe.
I do not have nor find a San Juana Gracia, except married to a Nicolas Alanis.

My name is Mark Gracia My Fathers name is the same. My Grandparents are David and Venalda. I did some research and I found that our name is of Spain and Portuguese decent. I am also very curious as to more info on the excact country in which our beautiful last name has come from. I would also like information on culture and lifestyle of our roots thankyou. Mark Gracia

My father is Jaime Gracia, my parents are from Durango Mexico where we have a large family of Gracia. From what my father tells me, our last name comes from Spain. My Grandfather on my dad's side was half spanish and half mexican. I also hate it when they pronounce my last name like GARCIA.

awwww i was married to a Gracia from Sanfer - years ago someone told me this name originated from Italy but that it was spelled "Grazia"

I may have a connection to this. My GGGrandparents Joseph and Mary went by Grace in RI and then Gracia in California. They were both from the Azores although I haven't been able to determine which islands. Please email me so we can exchange information.

The only connection that I have to Gracia is my Great Great Great Grandmother Eliza Gracia. I don't know much about her except that she was married to Zenon Garcia and had 5 children. She was born in the late 1880's early 1890's and that she lived in several places around Puerto Rico but finally settled in and around Carolina where the next 2 generations where raised. If anyone else has managed to get their family charts back that far and finds we are connected please let me know.

I am looking for relatives of Manual Gracia (b. Fayal Portugal abt 1856 to 1870), died abt 1900), and wife Maria Rosa (b. Pico, Portugal Abt 1871, died aft 1930.) I believe they lived and died in New Bedford, Massachusetts. They had a son Lewis Silva Grace or Gracia born 15 May 1897 in New Bedford who married Emelia Leona Britton.

Yes, Vidal Gracia had a son named Santiago F. Gracia born on the ranch in Zapata Texas.

I am still trying to find out more information on Vidal Gracia and where he came from.

My gg grandfather and his older son, and my father are also named Francisco Gracia. My Grandfather was named Francisco Gracia Romero. We are from Mexico , were are you from??

Maria: Adelaido Gracia was a cousin of my grandmother Juana Beatriz Cantu Vda. de Cantu. They were all from Gral. Bravo, Nuevo Leon. My granny's husband was also a Cantu, Guadalupe T. Cantu, and hos parents were Guadalupe Cantu and Francisca Pena. All of the Cantu, Pena, Gracia, Salinas, Gonzalez are some how related. I will try to find out more. Well, thank you for your kind words! Unfortunately, my knowldege is limited to the information provided by relatives.Yes, you are right. What I know is that my family came from a town named San Fernando, Tamaulipas (right in the Northeastern coast). There was 5 siblings: Pedro, Cayetano, Carlos, Ricardo and Luz Gracia-Cardiel. Ricardo decided to stay and continue fishing shrimp in the Laguna Madre until his dead several years ago. The rest migrated to Matamoros, Tamaulipas and formed families there. My Father says that his tia Luz still live in Brownsville and his tios Cayetano and Pedro passed away about two years ago (my grandfather died when I was ten). My Father (Carlos Gracia-Canales)keeps close contact with his immediate cousins and he and my grandmother have more information about the family history. One thing my grandfather used to say: "If your last name is Gracia and your family came from San Fernando, we are relatives".

I am also a native of Corozal. I am researching the Gracia surname looking for any relatives of my gg grandmother Leocadia Gracia, born about 1817. She married my
gg grandfather Eugenio Matos and probably lived in Barrio Cedro Abajo or Cedro Arriba of Naranjito. They were the parents of my g grandmother Delfina Matos Gracia who died in Corozal in 1899. Could you give me names of your parents, grandparents, etc. to see if we can make a connection. Hope to hear from you soon.
