Hoping to find descendents of my gr.gr.grandfather and his brother and sisters... James Cromwell Gracie from Co. Down, or Co. Tyrone, Ireland. James C. Gracie and his wife, Esther Anna McMenamin Gracie immigrated to Philadelphia, Pennshlvania, U.S.A, about 1870. James C. Gracey was a bricklayer. He was foreman of a team of bricklayers working in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, USA., the afternoon of May 31, 1889, when Johnstown was destroyed by a flash-flood. James C. Gracie, a widower, was never heard from again. He was survived by four daughters, Esther Anna (17 & the oldest), Margaret(Mang), Katy, and Bella. Esther Anna was my gr-grandmother, and remembered being told that James C. Gracie's brother, John Gracie, moved to Australia. A sister Mary moved to Australia, and entered All Saints Convent, Anne Street, Queensland, Australia. Two other sisters also moved to Australia: Rose Gracie (Cullen) and Kate Gracie (Fenton). One of the sisters had twins named Ellen and Hannah. Ellen married a man named Burns, and had four children: Margaret, Dan, Joe and Helen. Helen married George Bernhardt of New York City, USA. Will be willing to share photos and other information.
