I do research on the missing men from the 319th Glider Field Artillery Battalion, who probably died together with S/Sgt Albert Roberts: Capt. John Doherty, Pvt Raymond Lane, Pvt. Clifford Mills and Pvt. William Hedtke. Probably all were killed when four gliders were hit by AA fire and crashed on 18 September 1944 near Zyfflich, a small German town near the Dutch border, between Nijmegen and Kleve.
I am very interested to receive the casualty report of S/Sgt. Albert Roberts.

I am a Dutch historian who helps American families to find more information about relatives who were missing in action in Holland during WW II. Four men from Gracie's unit, the 319th GFAB, were MIA at the same place were he was killed, the little town of Zyfflich, near he Dutch-German border, on 18 September 1944.
The casualty report of Lt. Gracie can give very valuable information to me about what happened to the missing men who were with him that day: Capt. Doherty and the Pvt's Lane, Mills and Hedtke.
Further I would like to come ino contact with Lt. Gracie's family.

Hi i have been reaserching the family history and it seems that we're all pretty scattered around!! I have traced back to my Great-Grandfather Charles William Gracie (born pre 1900) but due to poor african record keeping and my family travelling alot i cant get further back then this, it seems that we have been in southern africa for several generations but i was wondering if anyone had any information on any Gracies who emigrated to southern africa before 1900??? Hi

Crumwell or Cromwell is my great great great grandfather. Does anyone know what happend to him? His son John my gg grandfather moved to AUstralia in the 1860's. Slowly putting together the pieces on this end but would dearly love to know what happend to Cromwell, and his wife.

Also I have seen docs that suggest Isabellas name was Isabella Mulholland. Very Confusing.

Also the Gracey's donated land to the .catholic church at Cooyar Queensland. I believe the church St Malachys is named after the sister who was at All Hallows Brisbane. I have not been able to find any info on her either.

Help me Find CRUM/CROMWELL Please.

Stuart, taking up the story further for you if you do acquire details of the 1911 census which suggests that in Islington hopefully at 4 Alwyne Place, London N1, there is hopefully one an entry for this address with
William Gracie b1865 living with Ellen Annie F Gracie who could be your aunt
there are probably two children
Doris Gracie b 1904
John Francis Valentine Gracie, [believed born on 13 February] 1908.I couldn’t find other notices for this birth.
The occupation of William Gracie should help enormously working further back.
It occurs to me that the F in your aunts name could be Frances, so interesting with with your father’s 2nd first name.

Starting to look for earlier relevant Gracie records
Just checking for Doris in FREE BMDS there are 2 possibles
Gracie Doris Frances W. Derby 8b 613 Births in quarter year ending Dec 1898 but that means the 1911 age would be wrong, but a W Derby Gracey turns up again below. Much more likely by date is
Gracie Doris Eleanor E Alverstoke 2b 566 Births in quarter year ending Mar 1904 but Alverstoke is in the county of Hampshire. If it is her it means you dad is travelling
moving to John your father’s birthplace no entry found in FreeBMD’s or on familysearch.com

In the 1901 census you could look up
Ellen A Gracie 36 London London Camberwell, and age wise, this could be you aunt.

I have delayed answering your query thinking I would get a breakthrough. I have searched many clues for 4 Alwyne Place, London N1 without success so far. Over the years I have made large indexes of Gracie from Rootsweb etc
back in 2002 Ralph Gracie was exploring the NZ Gracie

My G G Grandmother was Eliza Margaret Gracey and was born in Downpatrick Co Down about 1835. Her father was William Gracey but I don't know her Mother's name. I would love to know more about Eliza and her family. Hope you may be able to help. Thank you. Jenny.

Sorry to say I don't think we have the same John.
George & Margaret (Robertson) Gracie and their sons, Alexander R. & John settled in Pittsburgh abt. 1838-40.
John was married to Mary C. b. in Pittsburgh,Pa. and had 3 children-Frank, Nellie & Lidia. Check 1870-80 census.
Unless your Gracie's are from Pittsburgh I doubt its the same John.

I was looking at the information posted on the Ensell/Encell web site as to George Gracie and his decendents. I was wondering if you have any further documentation on one of the children of George Gracie. I'm refering to John Gracie b. 06 March 1831. My great grandfather was a John Gracie who married a Fanny McAdam. The only date I have found so far for their marriage was 23 April 1847.That would seem to fit in the likely time period. I found this date online. I have no documentation from Scots Origin, etc for this date though. The parents names(John & Fanny) ARE documented in the copy of the marriage license that I have for Robert Gracie and wife Rachel Collie who married 7 May 1888.

Their son was:-John Baynham Gracie 1922-1985, died Humberside. John was b Fontstown and Kilmead[e], Athy, County Kildare.

I don’t know if there is a connection to www.familysearch.com’s John Gracie b abt 1849 Dunscore, Dumfries, d 15 Jul 1929, m Agnes Wallace of Liverpool, This John Gracie’s father was Robert Gracie, and mother Jane Broatch.

Can anyone help fill in any information on this Dumfries Gracie line please for a descendant, who is a neighbour of mine. I have also placed this message on the Gracie Genforum message board

I am not related as my line is comber, Co down originally fro Inch Parish, Wigtownshire. But I am interested in all Gracey Gracie Gracy etc. so I made an index to Gracie on Ancestry.com but I have run out of time and stopped looking at David Gracie.. the other source is Free BMD’s . These show the quarter year dates on Free BMD’s unless from a different website. I hope these scraps encourage you further;-

I have a Robert Gracie married to an unknown Ann living in Houghton-le-Spring, Co. Durham in 1800s. Robert and Ann had 6 children; James 1862, Annie 1863, Mary 1866, Robert 1867, David 1870 and John Henry 1872. Do any of these names link to your research?
