Cheryl,

I have found a bit more info on my Grady's from Roscommon. The first generation was Patrick Grady 1811/Mary Ragan/Ward (not sure) 1811. They had 4 children born in Roscommon: John 1837, Patrick 1837, Thomas 1839, Annie 1845 (later married name Rowland), and Misak (aka Michael) born 1848 in Newcastle Under Lyme, Staffordshire, Eng. After the parents died in Newcastle, the whole family sailed to Boston and settled in Fall River, Mass. I have all this info on my family tree JoeClark_1954 on Ancestry.com. I do not believe you need a subscription to be able to "view" any trees. I do nit see a direct link to your Luke, but there is a good possibility that the families are related.

Regards,
Joe Clark

Mary Reagan b. 1843 in Mayo, found them in the 1881 English Census with children, imigrated in 1888 to Fall River, MA. Children: Patrick, Mary A., William, Catherine, Kate, Ann C., Bridget, James, and Edmund. I am not 100% sure of wife's maiden name (Reagan). The next time I get to the Fall River Public Library, I will see if there was another Grady family in the City Directories.
Regards,
Joe Clark (Bridget Grady was my g-grmother)

The John Graddy who died at Moore's Creek Bridge was John's Grandson, not son. He did have a son named John, but he lived well beyond the days of the Revolution. I doubt that the name was ever O'Grady since our Graddy family is of Scots Irish origin (Scots living in northern Ireland). One indication of this is the fact that the early Graddy settlers in Duplin County, NC, were Presbyterians. Had they been of Irish descent, they would most likely have been Catholic.

Kathleen,
I've been researching the Grady/O'Grady families in Woonsocket, RI (about 50 miles from Fall River, MA). My husband's grandfather, Thomas Grady, lived for a while in Fall River, MA, and we think he had other Grady relatives in that area. Thomas' father, Timothy Grady, immigrated from England as a teenager with his family in about 1855. They immediately settled near Woonsocket. But there were certain periods of time when some of the Grady's went to Fall River. We're unclear exactly what the attraction in Fall River was, but suspect it could be family.
Not sure if this helps at all, but you might try checking out the Fall River Directories on Ancestry.com (below).
Best wishes,
Barbara Grady

http://search.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/sse.dll?gl=allgs&gst=...

Oh, bless you, Miss Grady!! You understand where I was coming from!! We must be related!! Yes, I am planning on taking these documents to a museum locally to see if someone can read this handwriting. It is very slanted as if the person was in a big hurry - as if they were transcribing when someone was talking. Very very hard to read. Then the part with the names. I am going to take a stab at giving you the list of the names as I see them on this list. You say you have them in your PAF - then you might be able to figure out the ones I get wrong. I will start at the beginning of the list:
II. Reuben Grady, son of William Grady, dead leaving
1A. Timothy F. Grady, Sr., dead leaving
1b. Timothy F. Grady, jr
2b. Kesiah Sheeler
3b. Louisa Talley
2A. Reuben Grady - dead leaving
1b. Martha Ellen Gardner & Nathan Gardner
2b. Mary Alice Brooks dead leaving
1c. James R. Brooks
2c. John Z. Brooks
3c. ? A Brooks
4c. A ? Brooks
5c. Henrietta ?
6c. Cornelia Brooks
7c. W. P. Brooks
8c. Bettie A. Evans
9c. ? Brooks
3A. William Grady died - lived in Goochland County - had ? children but names & number unknown
II. Joseph Grady - son of William Grady dead leaving
1a. Josephine Gardner dead leaving
1b. ?
2b. John Gardner
3b. Robert Garadner
4b. Do?? Gardner dead leaving
1c. James Gardner
2c. Duke Gardner
5b. Mollie A. Sharpe
6b. Peggy Gardner, married James Fletcher & divorced & then married Tate, dead leaving
1c- Josephine Fletcher who married Sydnor
2c Mary Jane Haden
7b Je? Gardner married James Perry dead leaving
1c J W Perry
2c G W Perry
3c Thomas A Perry
4c Henry A Perry
5C Ha? ? Perry
2A Nancy Poindexter Daughter of Joseph Grady dead ? - interest acquired prior to death of the heirs of George Pottie (rest I cannot read..)
3A William Grady dead leaving
1b N? Grady
2b B T "
3b Thomas "
4b John "
5b Sarah "
6b Emily Ann "
7b Corvelia? "
8b Ellen
4A George Grady dead leaving children where names and number are unknown
5A Joseph Grady, dead leaving shildren whre names and number are unknown
6A Cornelius Grady, dead, leaving children, where names & numbers are unknown.
III Fannie Grady - who married Ba?? (cannot read) both dead leaving
1a James Ba?? dead leaving
1b William Ba??
2b Thomas Ba??
3b James Ba??
4b Robert Ba??
Rest of list unreadable

That is all that I can read of the Grady/Gardner links to what my inquiry was. If you should see some sort of a connection in your PAF, your clues would be appreciated! Also, my grandmother would say "O'Grady". I am confused...
Thank you very much - sincerely.

Shirley

Hi,

I just came accross your query. My grandmother -
Bridget Mulvoy(Molloy) was bridesmaid to Mary Gorham
at her marriage to Patrick Cloonan in Killannin on the
19th May, 1884. Bestman - John Gorham.

Mary Gorham and my grandmother were first cousins.
Winifred Mulvoy, daughter of Patrick Mulvoy and Bridget
Curran of Gortacarnaun, Rosscahill, Killannin was her mother My great grandfather was John Mulvoy.

I am seeking information on James Mulvoy who was a member
of the Royal Irish Constabulary from 1859 to 1867 when he
resigned with the intention to to emigrate. My grandmother
told me that he went to Australia? Somebody may have come
accross him? State records show Biddy Gorham born 6th August.1864, John born 4th September, 1866 and Patrick who
remained in the home place born 13th November, 1869.

There is a record of "Annie Gorham" having married John Molloy, Cloonmore(Killannin) son of an RIC Sergeant on the
28th October, 1901.

I would be grateful if you can get some info. on what became of James Mulvoy!. The family left Gortacarnaun
in 1921 following the death of Mark Mulvoy in 1915 at
the age of 35. He had four children and his widow and
children went to reside in the Sommerville area of Boston.

James
