Hello! I only have my grandfather's name: Allan Graeff Sr. As far as I know, he was from Washington DC. He married Elizabeth Waters from Baltimore. He went to the Pacific in WWII and that's it. I'm the last one carrying his name and my daughter will lose it. I would love to know the family tree, as I suppose we all descend from the same Graeff.
Can you help me?

Did you ever find information on Capt. Henry W. Graeff? I'm researching the family of a close friend and he has a Capt. Harry W. Graeff in his line. I've confirmed that HIS Harry/Henry Graeff is the one that enrolled in the 12th Regiment, Pennsylvania Cavalry (113th Volunteers).

I have an old photograph of Henry in uniform but am not sure which unit he was in when it was taken.

My friend said that his multi-great grandfather was always refered to as Captain Graeff but in the 12th Regiment, he was a 1 Lt. & Adjt.

Hi Chris:
I haven't been to this site in a few years, but I remember Dar and Marie having a daughter named Chris. If you would like to email back and forth please contact me at pcgraef@yahoo.com. My Mom, Evelyn Graef is still living in Tacoma, WA.
Isaac Graeff (1796-1880) m. Mary Althaus, Berks Co., PA

I am researching a Graeff family line which is centered in Berks County, PA. (Probably in Bern Township.) The most distant ancestor I have located so far is Isaac Graeff (b. Dec 22, 1796, d. Mar 23, 1880) who married Mary Magdelena Althaus (b. Feb 8, 1802, d. Apr 15, 1862). Both were buried in Epler's Church Cemetery in Leesport, Berks County. Mary's parents were John George Althaus and Catharine Knabb (no vitals known).

Isaac and Mary appear to have had 10 children: Henry, Sara, Catharine, Susanna, Daniel, Mary A., Mathilda, Frederick A., and Amanda, some of whom were also buried at Epler's.

I am trying to get some sourced confirmation on any of the above information as well as figuring out who Isaac's parents were.

GRAEFF, Sybilla b. ca 1675

Something like 8 generations back one Sybilla Graeff and Rem (Reu?) Holder had a son named John. Location is said to be London, Tower Hill area, and perhaps St. Mary le Bow Church though no baptism has been seen for March 1694. Rem/Reu may have been a seaman of some type and for some reason faded from the picture. Sybilla and son emigrated to NY - highlands along the Hudson is probably where they settled. Eventually John married the daughter of a Palatine German near Newburgh, and they then moved to PA. Wonder if they immigrated to North America because others in the family had already done so. I'd sure like to tie Sybilla to a specific country.. Germany? - Netherlands? Any insights would be welcome. Thanks, w.

Hi, I do believe that you are related to my husband.
I just recently began to work on his family tree. He is
the great-grandson of John Frederick Knapp. John Frederick was the son of Philip M. Knapp
and Wilhemina Graeff. I have some photos of John Frederick and his wife Minnie Knapp when they were older. I also have photos of their son Raymond Harrell Knapp, Sr. and his wife Marjorie Moore.
Raymond had only one sibling. A sister named Ruth. Raymond retired a Lt. Col in the Army and died several years ago and is buried here in San Antonio,TX at the Fort Sam National Cemtery, along with his wife.
Raymond and Marjorie only had 1 child. Raymond H. Knapp, Jr. and he and my mother in law Sandra had only 1 son. My husband Brian C. Knapp. We have 2 daughters, so this Knapp line ends here. I would so like to hear from you. As my husband knows literally none of his family. I have hundreds of family members in the area. My father was one of 14. So, it would be nice for my girls and Brian to have some contact with family. Thanks. Esther.

GRAEFF Family from Pottsville

Kay, my grandmother was Ida Mae Graeff and she lived on E. Norwegian Street. Her mother was Mary Mohl Graeff and her father was Charles Graeff. He was a policeman. They had 9 children: Harry, Walter, George, William, Robert, Roy, Jim, Elsie and Ida. Charles was born in 1848. That's about all the information I can find. I have some birth/death dates of the siblings, but not much else. My mom would like to know the nationality of her mother (Ida Graeff) but I have been unable to find a thing since the courthouse in Pottsville doesn't have records prior to 1905. Do you think we are searching for the same Graeff family? You can e-mail me at lynnarnone@aol.com if you'd like. Lynn

Our family name was GRAIFF, our history originates in Romeno (Austria), Italy.
Spelling of the names were frequently changed, due to immigrant accents and also due to the effort to Americanize. Do you have family history in Austria? in Romeno?

Married Mafawnwyn Lewis, better know as "Fronie". Robert's father was Atty. Herman B. Graeff and married to a woman by the name of Eveline.
Surname Graeff

I am from Rochester, N.Y., originally. As a
young girl we went to Pennsylvania often to
visit some GGGrandparents to my Dad, whose
name was Leonard Earl Graef. I know that the
family had shortened the family name when
the first family members arrived in U.S. from
Germany. I also had an uncle who worked for
the DuPont Company as a troubleshooter. He
had an occassion to travel to somewhere in
Germany and had his picture taken in front
of The House of Graeffe.
There were many Graef's who lived in Rochester
and some moved to Homestead, Florida. There
were some relatives who lived in Ohio (some
where) I was just a little girl when we
visited some people there. The place where
we went in Pennsylvania was on a farm. I wish
I knew more. If I can be of any help regarding
the Graef's from Rochester, please let me
know. Thanks.

GRAEFF from Siegen, Westphalia DE

After several years of looking in CH, Alsace, Pfalz, etc. I finally found my GRAEFF (GRAEB) family in the records of the Evangelische Kirche, Siegen.
My ancestors were Johann Peter GRAEFF and Anna Maria Catharina SCHNEIDER, who immigrated in 1767 or 1768. After 7 or so years in Berks (?) County, they moved, with other Siegen pioneers into Brothers Valley, Somerset Co, PA. These are GRAEFFs I know about. Their name changes to GROVE.
On the same ship with JP was a Johann Balthasar GRAEFF, and I can find no trace of him in PA.
There may also have been other, earlier GRAEFFs from Siegen, probably spelled GRAFF.
Bill Jewell
Does your tree contain a Ralph Daniel Graeff? I don't have too much information on him, but here's what I have:

Ralph Daniel GRAEFF (d. 1968) married Haley HAAS (d. 1927). Ralph's mother was Rebecca MILLER. Ralph and Haley had one child (my maternal grandfather), Daniel Miller GRAEFF who was born 19 Dec 1922 in Bern Township, Berks Co., PA.

I'm just beginning my search up the Graeff side of the family, so that's the extent of my data down that chart.
