Today we found your message of 2001 regarding Donald Crane Grant. Donald was my grandfather. He married Helen McGregor Jackson in 1911 and had three daughters. He left my grandmother and in the 1930s we know he lived in Kingsford and had another family. He died in July, 1941.We wonder if you have any knowledge of his life between 1918 (when he left my grandmother) and when he died in 1941. We would be very pleased to receive any information you can give us. My mother, who is 95 years old, is Donald & Helen's middle daughter. She would dearly love to know of his life in those years.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

John Fryer

Martha -- your post is over 6 years ago - are you still pursuing info about Beriah?

My brother and I are descendants from this line and have just gotten stuck trying to determine his true father.

It seems that the references to a Noah Grant b. 1661 have gotten spliced together with Noah Grant b. 1693 and married to Martha Huntington. There are numerous references to him and his offspring as they lead to Ulysses Grant.

Let me know if you have made any headway in these last 6 years.

Thanks --
Catherine Grant

The death certificate was 10/10/1935. Otto was from Centralia, Ill. but was visiting when he pasted away. He is buried in Loas Angeles, Cal. My family has and interesting story and the Centralia is a part I can not put together. In info you may have would be appreciated.
William Grant - 1479

I recently started doing some genealogy research thanks to a partial family tree I found while cleaning the basement. My great-grandfather was Clyde Bennett Mills, born 1888. His grandmother was Althea Ophelia Grant. Clyde Bennett is listed in both the “Tracy geneaology: ancestors and descendants of Thomas Tracy of Lenox, Massachusetts” and the “Grant Family: A Genealogical History of the Descendants of Matthew Grant, of Windsor, Conn. 1601-1898.” I have his line back to Matthew Grant of 1601 but have been trying to trace it even further back. I found one site that listed Matthew Grant’s line back to a William Grant born in 1479. I’m not sure how accurate this is though. Has anyone found any information beyond William Grant? Any help would be appreciated!

Allan Grant Born (Scotland????)1877

Can anyone help me to find my grandfather and or my Ancestors on his side? I know that he was born in 1877, but whether it was in India or Scotland, I know not. He died young (before 60) and he was in bad health for most of his life. He married twice, I don't know the name of his first wife, he did however have a son Trevor, born in 1906. He married my Grandmother Beatrice Maud Kenning(Kunning on the marriage certificate) when he was 37, she was 21+,at Hampstead registry office in 1914. They then went to India. He worked for the Indian Civil Service from 1892 - 1931 as Financial Registrar/Chief Inspector, and was based at Lucknow. His son Trevor also worked for the Indian Civil Service. My mother was born In Nani taal(India) in 1915,she was Heather Jane Grant.
That is ALL I know about him, my Mother never talked of them and most queries were discouraged. I would LOVE to trace him, and with my Mother now dead, I feel that my only hope is through his son from the first marriage, Trevor. If anyone out there can help me I would be SO grateful. On the marriage certificate it said that my Great Grandfathers name was Samuel Waldron Grant, and he was a Doctor of Medicine, but a geneologist could not find any trace of him.

Thank you very much for answering. My dads name is Julius and his dads name is Sammie. I'm mainly interested in fining out information about my dads side of the family. The family lived downtown in the projects doing the 40's and early part of the 50's, then moved to Ashleyville. West Ashley. My Granddad (Sammie) lived in Mt. Pleasant and I think that he has ties to jacksonville, Fla. Let me know what kind of information do you need. I still have family in Charleston.

William Robert Grant b. circa 1860, married Isabella Clay, Durham

Hi, this is my first post here and I was wondering if anyone could provide me with any more information about the man I've given details of in the title.

He's my great-great-grandfather, yet despite trying to dig up information on him I know very little that's concrete.

My Grandad has always told me that he was from Scotland, and I know for certain that he abandoned his family in the early 1890s (apparently to become a Highland Dancer!)

I've searched the BMD repeatedly, but can only find a record of his marriage to Isabella Clay in 1884 - they married in South Shields, and had five children.

Does anyone have any information about him? Help would be deeply appreciated!

I was told that Enoch's father was Peter. I have also been told that there is a book that an attorney in New York compiled that traces the lineage back to Scotland.

If Oscar Grant is your great-grandfather, we could be related. Anything you can share would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Oscar Grant was my great-grandfather. Some of his grandchildren are in Kansas, but some also in Missouri, my siblings and I in Arizona, and others scattered around. Annie Bailey was born in Delaware and Oscar in New York. I've traced several generations beyond Enoch. Are you just trying to go beyond Enoch, or are you specifically looking for a relation to Jesse or Ulysses S. Grant?
