Rolla S. Gratigny
Rolla Samuel Fratigny, 89, of 201 South St. Excelsior Springs, died Sunday in a nursing home at 1700 Rainbow Dr., Excelsior Springs. He was born in Kansas City, Kan, and also lived in Houston before he moved to Excelsior Springs in 1970. Mr. Gratigny was a pharmacist in Houston before he retired in 1970. He leaves a daughter Mrd. Mildred E. Donal, Kansas City, Kan.; two brothers E. George Gratny, Kansas City, Kansas, and Emery Gratny, Anaheim, Calif.

Not my relatives, just seen this obit in the paper and decided to pass it along for someone.

Louis Gratigny was born in France about 1795. In fact his father (name unknown) was killed in the military service under Napoleon Bonaparte. Louis served as a cabin boy on the brig the "New Moon-- was on the sea 6 years. He married Desdemona Ford in N.Y.city, moved to Baltimore, MD, from there to Winchester, from there to Moorefield, Va.; and successively resided in Mount Pleasant, Ohio, Jacobsburg, Belmont County, Beallesville, Monroe Co. and Barnesville where he died at the age of 83. He served as a physician 61 yrs. Children were:
Cyrus Gratigny born 16 May 1821 Winchester,
married Mary Elisabeth Cummings.
Sarah Gratigny born 1824 Va. married Thomas
Wright.
Louis Gratigny born 1826, married Susannah
Duvall 14 Dec. 1849.
Lucien Gratigny born abt 1832, married
Elizabeth Cooper, then Virginia Cline.
Caroline Gratigny born 1832 married Samuel
Davenport 17 June 1851.
Thaddeus Gratigny born 1834.
Lavoisier H. Gratigny 1836 married DeQuin ?.
Alexander Gratigny born 1841
Almarrin Gratigny born about 1842, married
Kate M. Neireiter 10 Sep 1868.
