Ethel GRAUER KOSKY, Romania => London => Canada => New York

Hi!

Looking for info on the family of Ethel GRAUER KOSKY. Ethel Grauer was born in Romania probably between 1874 and 1881. She was one of six children (3 boys and 3 girls). Her parents, with the 3 girls and one boy, traveled to London, England. Two of the boys went to South Africa.

Ethel married Kalman or Kadish Kosky in 1903 and they left London for Toronto about 1906. And later went to New York about 1923. She sometimes went by Etta or Etty/Ettie. Ethel and Kadish had 7 children: Benjamin, Anna, Rachel, Sadie, Freda, Lily, and Irving.

Looking for any info about Ethel's family - siblings - parents. The two brothers that went to South Africa?

Thanks!
Christy

Louis' gravesite is known and several years ago I was among a group who recorded the stones, cleaned it up, etc. No doubt you know he was in the Civil War. His wife's death certificate is printable from the MO State Archives website. A Wildwood book (for sale for $20 - ask me) contains all known burials in Wildwood, including the Grauer cemetery. One descendant you might email:
mberthold@msn.com

I bet you are a long-lost cousin! Gottlieb Grauer was born in approximately 1838 or 1840 near Stuttgart in Wuertemberg, Germany. He emigrated at age 18 to escape the wars in Europe and bought a plot of land in St. Louis to start a farm (see BLM website). My mom used to visit that farm in the summers.

He ended up getting involved in the Civil War, anyway, on the side of the Union. I have all the pension paperwork. He fought from 1861-1866.

After his first wife, Anna, died, he married Johanne Gosebrink (Prussian) and had four children--Henry, Herman, Bertha and Emma. I'm Emma's great-granddaughter. She lived to her late 90's and my mom was pretty close with her despite the distance (her son Edward Hinderman, my grandfather, had moved to NYC).

I have old pictures of Gottlieb & Johanne and their kids, if you'd like I could e-mail them to you. I have also visited the cemetary where some of the family is buried, and I've got birthdates, marriage dates, etc. Emma's granddaughter Iris is still around, in her 80's, & gave us a lot of info when we visited the St. Louis cousins a few years ago.

I'm trying to find Gottlieb & Johanne's parents now--let me know if you have any leads!

Cindy Hendrickson
Westmoreland, NY 13490
ghendri1@twcny.rr.com

Branch of Grauer family - New York

Hi! I am Deborah Marine, daughter of Richard L. Grauer Sr. My father is the grandson of Edwin Booth Grauer Jr. who had 3 siblings, all of which are listed as still living. Unfortunately there is very little that I was told about the Grauer side of my family and I am trying to prepare a good family tree and history to share with my children so we KNOW our family. My father's mother has since passed away and I only vaguely remember my grandfather Edwin Grauer who passed on in 1979. If there are any surviving relatives on the Grauer side of the family that wishes to share information or have the information that I have been able to find, you are welcome to email me.
