Hi Terri,

I read with interest about your family info. What really struck me is the name of the lady who wrote the book.

My ggggrandfather was said to have come over from Ireland in the early 1800's as a child. I have nothing certain about him and his wife, Ellen (possibly Eliabeth) other than oral history and from census info that they are both from Ireland.

William and Ellen had a son (my gggrandfather) James Gray in Troy, NY in 1842, in 1848 they had another son, Thomas Lyman Gray. I have lots of info on my gggrandfather and his brother but it is their parents where I have hit a brick wall.

Lyman is such an unusual name so it really stuck out when I saw it in your post. I have been trying to find out if Lyman was Ellen's maiden name and for some reason gave it to her 2nd son as a middle name and not the first son.

If you see any connection, please let me know and also, if you can tell me anything about the name Lyman, I would really apprecite it.

Thanks,

Patti Gray-Smith
