Looking for info on Rebecca Grayson Charles. I have no info on her parents. She was born 8/18/1849 in either Morgan or Bath Co., KY. I may have stumbled upon her parents being Joshua Grayson born in 1823 in Bath Co. but looking to verify. I believe he was married to a Polly Carah. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Rose and her husband Lemuel Cox were my great-grandparents. I'm seeking any info on Rose's childhood, as I've learned she was raised by Armilda Frisby and her husband George Franklin Gose. I have reason to believe her mother, Mary Ann Gose Grayson Thomas, may have died when Rose was eight. Rose herself, according to my mother, would not talk about her past, and only mentioned that her ancestry included native Americans. I've noticed many Graysons among native tribes. If you can help me with more information, I'd be so grateful.
Dori Hunt

Best I can suggest is reading the older listings here. Some have information on Graysons in Armagh.
Have you tried pilot etc for possible births of whom you are looking for? Not that many Graysons in Ieland. when
I googled my great great aunt Margaret Oughton, and came up with her marriage to John Grayson Gorey then pilot had his middle name. My John James Grayson b 1858 and father John from Balrothery but too many John to pick which one he might be.
But I have not found much past that.
Hopfully you will get some more helpful repies than mine.
Good luck from Australia!

ANN GRAYSON/JAMES MARK Ireland/Canada

I'm leaving for Ireland in Sept '09--going to County Armagh (Armagh) to find any further info on Ann Grayson b.29 Apr 1827. Also going to County Antrim (Faranacushog)to seek further information on James Mark b. 12 Oct 1812. They married in Farancushog on 12 Oct 1843. Any helps/hints/etc. on this quest would certainly be appreciated as I've never been there before. Also, James was a Presbyterian and Ann was Methodist--where would these records be found since the Roman Catholic Church held most of the information? I know that he and some of his siblings immigrated to East Hawksbury, Canada.I have the genealogical information down to my generation but nothing previously back from James Mark/Ann Grayson.

Ambrose Grayson of Spotsylvania Co., VA

Looking for documentary evidence related to the children of Ambrose Grayson, son of John Grayson (d 1735 OS).

Ambrose Grayson had three brothers who appear in land records, court records, church records or estate records -- Thomas Grayson (eldest son & heir of John), Benjamin, and John Junr.

Ambrose made his will on 6 or 16 Sep 1742, naming his brother Benjamin as an executor. As to children, the will names only four sons. John Grayson was devised land, which would go to his brother Benjamin if he died without issue. Later land records show that he conveyed that land. Ambrose Grayson also was devised land, and if he died without issue, the land went to his brother Thomas. (In the case of Ambrose, he did die unmarried and without issue, his oral will directing that the land go to Thomas, and the rest of his estate to his unmarried brothers and sisters.)
The residue of the estate (subject to the life estate of the widow) was to be divided equally among his sons and daughters (distribution to sons at 21, daughters at 18 or marriage). Ambrose most unhelpfully neglected to name the other children.

The will was probated 6 Mar 1743/4, and on 3 Jul 1744 his widow posted a guardian bond for John & Ambrose Grayson orphans of Ambrose Grayson. There is no record of a bond for any other child. The implication of this fact is that those two sons were the only children then under the age of 21. No other child was a minor and unmarried.

WHAT EVIDENCE SHOWS THE AGES OF PERSONS GENERALLY REPORTED AS CHILDREN OF AMBROSE GRAYSON?

WHAT EVIDENCE SHOWS THAT THOSE PERSONS WERE HIS CHILDREN? (as opposed to children of one of his brothers)

Names most often seen (but not in will): Alice, William, Susannah, Ann, Reuben, Elizabeth, Richard

I am trying to find the parents of Joel Grayson b 23 Jul 1777 I think in Madison Co VA In a Page Co bible it states Joel son of William son of Ambrose. Ambrose's William M Anne Smith & they had six children none named Joel. I have Joel's mother as Eleanor Sanford. I have Joel's wife & children & he died in Page Co.
I too have the same six names. Joel's siblings were William, Thomas, Judith, Susannah, Mildred m Edward Hood of Madison Co. & Joel. In the book "History of Washington Co. Maryland" by T. C. Williams on pages #1292 & 1293 has Joel's children & grandchildren & he wrote "Joel Grayson" why when Joel was born in Madison Co VA & lived & died in Page Co VA is listed in a book on MD is a puzzle. I only have a copy of the two pages so maybe there is a reason. Bette
