Grecos in Ottati, Italy

Hello, I'm trying to trace my ancestry back to Ottati, Italy. If anyone can identify any of the names below, I would like to hear from you.

My great grandfather was Daniel Greco (b. Oct 1 1891 in Ottati, d. Feb 5 1960 in New Kensington, PA, USA). His father was John Greco (b. 1871 in Ottati, d. May 1903 in Ottati) and his mother was Teresa Grieco (b. Nov 15 1873 in Ottati, d. Jun 1959 in Ottati).
.
John's parents were Daniel Greco and Filomena Granada. Teresa's parents were Angelo Grieco and Pauline Andreola.

I am searching for the relatives and antecedents of Lucia Greco who married Raffaele Vanacore. Lucia immigrated to NYC in 1904. Had brothers Nicola and Francesco who came to New York also. Departure was from Naples.

Lucia Greco and Raffaele Vanacore had children: Anthony, Salvatore, Maria, Andrew and Philomena.

Are any of these recognizable??

I am the great niece of Anna Battaglia Greco. She and my grandfather Antonino were siblings. They had one other brother Francesco/Frank Battaglia. Their parents are named Antonino Battaglia and Antonina Piazza Battaglia. Antonino Sr and Frank emigrated to this country via Ellis Island and a year later, Antonina, Antonino Jr and Anna emigrated via Ellis Island. The Sr Battaglias are buried at the Italian Cemetery in Colman. The Grecos, Gioachino and Anna are also buried there. I have been trying to contact a Greco descendant to tell them of the defacement of the Greco gravesite. I really didn't know how to contact anyone so I am glad to meet up with you. I can be reached via florence 203@msn.com and would like to talk to you. I have dates of emigrations, births, deaths etc.

Hi,
We are searching for any information regarding our great uncle Gaetano Greco who migrated to New York in 1910 from Floridia (Prov.) Siracusa, Italy.
He was an illiterate 18year-old on arrival in the US and besides a brief encounter in a bar in New York shortly after his arrival in 1910 no one has heard from him.

My grandmother was Teresa Monte's sister, Giuseppa (Josephine). I believe Benedetto Greco was from Belmonte Mezzagno, the same town as my grandfather, Ignazio Dragotto. Teresa emigrated in 1907 with her mother Anna Licata, sisters Carmela, Giuseppa, and Maria and brother Calogero. The older brother Gaetano Monte came a couple of months later in 1907. Giovanna (Jenny) Monte was born in Philadelphia. Salvatore Monte (the father) was also born in Belmonte; however, his wife and children were born in San Giuseppe Jato. Please contact me as soon as possible. I think we can help each other.

i have no idea which part of the us the greco branch immigrated to after they left siracusa. when i was in siracusa last year i found the grave of a carmela greco that was in that time period. i took a picture of the grave and it had her picture on it. i could see a family resemblance so i am wondering if she could be a cousin or my gg's sister.
the orsini sons were named sebastian, pasquale, and marino the dauther was ernesta.. pasquale was named after the orsini gg but the sebastian and marino names might be from the greco side. most of the orsinis came through ellis island before going south to savannah.
i do know ernesta married a rizza in siracusa before coming here.

I am trying to find out more info on Gloria Greco (Cretacci) She was born abt 1927 and lived in Buffalo NY at age three with the Laporte family, in 1930 on Gelston Ave in Buffalo. I know she married a John James Greco and had a daughter. I believed the family was living in AZ. Both John and Gloria are deceased. John died in 2002. -Paolo Greco (came to the US in ~1912/1913 w/ 3 daughters, son came later. He returned to Sicily to die with wife (unknown)

-Domenico Greco (b. 1904, Ratinico, Sicily; d.~1950's in NY, was a shoemaker)

-Agatha Greco (b.1890), married to a Vito Scallioni (sp?), had children, Chico, DoDo, Nino, Paul, Tito and Vito)

Hi,
I'm wondering if anyone can help me with my search for family in San Francisco.

My great-g'parents name were Francesco Butta and Maria Butta (nee Pampana).
The had 7 children: Antonio b.1888 - Giovanni b. 1896 - Guiseppe b. 1899 - Bartolo b. 1904 - Assunta Garito (nee Butta) b. 1896 - Rosaria Taranto (nee Butta) b. 1908 and Rosa b. ??. All except Rosa, immigrated to Australia when they were very young.

Rosa (we think that is her name, may have been the eldest) she married and immigrated to Argentina and then they moved to San Francisco. We think Anna was either her daughter or daughter-in-law or Alfio was her son or son-in-law. They had a boy named Cosinetto b. 1939 or 1940.

I would be very appreciative if anyone may have any information.

POW/MIA Korean War GRECO

I am searching for the family of a soldier who was killed in the Korea War. When he entered service he gave Delaware County, Pennsylvania as his home of record.

Born: 1928
Date of loss: December 3, 1950 MIA

C Co 8th Cav Rgt, 1st Cav Division

When the Korean War ended the enemy never returned or accounted for over 8,000 of our servicemen. They died in their hands. That was over 50 years ago. Since that time DNA has been perfected and also they are recovering remains in North Korea. Our government is obligated to return those remains to the proper family. DNA samples have been obtained from most of the families of these missing soldiers. For various reasons some families have not been located.

When the remains are recovered and identified they will be returned to the family for proper burial. I am just an old (76 years) Combat Veteran out of the Korean War and thankful that I did return. I consider this a very noble cause and I hope that you can help in some way to find this family. For more information on the project you may go to http://www.jpac.pacom.mil/. My part in the program is to match up the lost families with the proper agency.

I will be grateful for any assistance in locating this family.

My great grandfather was Carl Greco and he married Carmela Calabrese, they had my grandfather, Domenic Greco, he married Theresa Incorvaia, I believe they were married in America but I am not sure. Don't know if this will be of any help. I have a document for Carmello Lupo, maried to Angela Greco their children Vincenzo Lupo 1856 Maria Vita Lupo 1858 and Marianna Lupo 1855. Searching Lupo's connected to Manzo, Scibetta, Panepinto, Maita and La Pilusa. All from Sicily.

I am trying to search for the Greco family in New orleans. The father would be Louis, and he was born about 1874 in Sicily, and the mother was Francesca or Frances was born about 1887 in Sicily. Josephine , the daughter
was born in 1916, according to the family, but I saw he was born in 1911 in the Calif. death index. In this family there were sisters and brothers--- Marie, Dominic, Mike, Joseph, and Lena. In 1911 to 1916 this family was in New orleans. Is there a Louisaina birth index, or Louisiana marriage index.? Any information would great.

My grandfather came from Longobardy Italy around 1916; He was born in 1894; He spoke of brothers Vincente and Dominic who lived in the San Francscio area.

My grandfather was a very tall man 6'4" with size 17 shoes - very dark and handsome. He could grow everything and his small yard hosted a variety of plums grafted to Apricots and other oddities. He was a gardner after he had TB until he died in 1969 in Antioch, California.

He didn't speak much about Italy or his family. My sister was the historian and when she passed so did much of the family history.

My great grandmother is Maria Arcangela Greco father is Bartelemeo mother is Guisippi D'Angela(of Pietrapertosa Potenza) Maria had 4 other sisters that I know of,1866 Arcangela,1868 Maria Arcangela,1876 Angela Marie 1877 Maria Angela, and Rosa in 1878...Guess they ran out of ways to use maria and Angela....Any one related to these Grecos???

Both of my grandmothers (Rosie Greco) parents were named Greco from Cozenza... Gaentina Greco and Louis Greco (hopefully from different clans). Gaetina was born in 1896 but in West Virgina, although she spent 5-7 yrs back in Calabria when she got married at 14 in 1910 to Louis. We still reside in Western PA where they finaly settled in 1920's.
Any info... I'll check the replies.

Just to share some information regarding my lineage (we may have a "cousin" connection...)

My maternal grandparents were Giovanni (John) Antonio & Filomena REDA.

John's parents were: Gaetano REDA/Antonia GRECO from Domanico/Cosenza
GP's: P- Giuseppe REDA/Giuseppnia GRECO
M- Gaetano GRECO/Rosaria BUFFONE

Filomenas parents were: Antonio Maria REDA/Innocenza Greco GUARASCIO from Carolei/Cosenza)
GP's: P- Francesco REDA/Maria Carmela RAGUSA
M- Vincenzo GUARASCIO/Nicolina DECICCO

Sometimes, I think EVERYONE from Cosenza must be related!

I am currently searching for information regarding Giovanni Greco died on January 16, 1950. He was married Angelina Dragone born 1881 in Alberobello, Bari, Italy. Her Parents were Santo Dragone and Immaculatta Leo were also born in Alberobello, Bari, Italy. She died on October 08, 1969 in either New York, NY or Bronx, NY. Her siblings were Cullino, Annina (I heard it means Little Anna), Vito (1893) and Grazia (April 2, 1895). If you have any information please contact me.

...as the story continues, Francesco Greco (b. 28 May 1876) emmigrates to Argentina circa 1900s with his wife Angela Rosa Greco (cousin).

They settled in Quilmes, Buenos Aires, and had many children:
1) Angela Greco, 1906
2) Vicente Greco, 1909
3) Irma Greco, 1914
4) Nelli Greco
5) Alicia Greco, 1911
6) Violeta Greco
7) Ester greco
8) Maria Elena (Mela) Greco, 1907
9) Ricardo Fernando Greco, 1912-- my grandfather

Some of the people above died very young of influenza, so did the father in around 1920. The children cremated the remains because they were in the middle of nowhere with no help.

Well, I did find Angela Rosa Greco's birth docs in LDS Films, and I went further to write down every Greco brith in Cefalu from 1881 to 1892. Hope this helps people! Let me know if you belong to the family of Francesco Greco & Filomena Angela Cimino from Cefalu!

Greco from Cefalú

This should be easy to find. Two cousins marrying each other in Cefalú: Francesco Greco (b.1876) and Angela Greco (b.1884). Francesco Greco was the son of Giuseppe Greco and Angela Prestisimone.
Angela Greco's parents were Francesco Greco and Filomena Angela Cimino.
Francesco (father) and Giuseppe were brothers, but that is where my tree comes to a dead end for the Grecos...and Prestisimone's. They were all from Palermo and Cefalú, so it should not be too difficult.

Any help would be appreciated.
PS: Yes, LDS films are coming, but I still want to see if there are other lineagesout there with this info and new blood :)

Church, 566 Elm St. on Friday at 10 a.m. (today). Burial will be private. There will be no calling hours. The Nicholas F. Hello Frank, I have some information on your family. I believe your Anthony was a son of Carmela Testa Greco and Francesco Pascal Greco. I recently found a nascita (birth record)from Cefalu for Anthony's Mother, Carmela Testa Greco and a copy of the marriage bann for Carmela/Francesco P. Greco from Cefalu, Sicily. Frank and Carmela Greco owned a summer home in Port Allen, LA. and my Grandparents, Gaetano Messina and Ignazia Testa were married at the church near their summer home. Also included some additional info on your Grecos below.
