Am looking for Lucy Greenberry who married Joseph Jacob, 1 Mar 1771 in Montogmery, Maryland. Have information on Colonel Nicholas Greenberry who crossed the waters but cannot make a connection of Lucy to him. Lucy and Joseph had seven children: John, Perry, Zachariah, Greenberry, Alfred, Rachel and Jeremiah. Thanks for your help.

Nicholas Greenberry or Greenbury

I believe Nicholas and wife Ann were in Greater London before immigrating to America in 1674. They had two children at time of passage on the Ship Constant Friendship.When he died in1697 he still had estate in England.

Would love to know their whereabouts in London and or Middlesex.

He was the first Nicholas. The second Nicholas was born 16 Dec 1702 and died 19 Feb 1702/3. Charles died probably on Dec 8, 1713.

I am related to a Nicholas Greenbury who arrived in America at Patuxent, Maryland on July 09, 1674 aboard a small ship called "Constant Friendship". Nicholas Greenbury became the President of the Council and Acting Governor of the Providence of Maryland after the death of Sir Lionel Copley (1694). He was later commissioned Colonel and appointed Commander of the Military Forces in Anne Arundel and Baltimore Counties on July 07, 1694. He died in 1697.

I am searching for their marriage abt 1670/1and the birth of son Charles 9 Feb 1672/3 and of Katherine 1674. They went to America in 1674 where he died 17 Dec 1607 leaving an estate in England.

Hulda Greenberry

My great grandmother was Hulda Greenberry. She had a son, Allen McBride and a daughter, Annie M. Nichols. She later married Wallace Johnson. Ms. Greenberry was 1/2 Cherokee. They all lived in Tennessee. My grandmother, Annie Nichols, was born in 1903 and died in 1994 at the age of 91.

I am trying to search for my Cherokee roots. My grandmother was illiterate and her mother probably was, too.

Any information will be greatly appreciated.

I am Deb Davis' cousin. We just returned from the Greensberry family reunion in Greensburg, LA. All of us who attended are from Illinois. We probably met this past weekend. If Joe James is your father, we met your brothers Edward & Joe Jr.

I am looking for information on Ed or Ned GREENBERRY i.e. GREENSBERRY, GREENBURY, GREENSBURY. He was born in Arkansas around 1850. His parents were Louis and MARIA GREENSBERRY who lived in Grand Chain, Pulaski County, Illinois sometime around 1880. I would like more information on this family.

I am researching the families of Louis Greensberry my gr-gr-gr grandfather who was born in Kentucky approximately 1810 and Mirista Greensberry (may be Maria or Marriah) born 1825 in Tennessee. They lived in Grand Chain, Pulaski county, Illinois. . Louis' father was born in North Carolina and Mother was born in Virginia. The little information I know on their family follows. I would especially be interested in information on ancestors of this family. I would also like to know the correct spelling of the name. It has been documented Greensbury as well.

I don't know if there is any connection, but have been researching my Stokes line and have come across the name Greenberry, and Greenbury several time . There was a Greenberry Stocks (Stokes) who left a will in Edgefield, SC in 1824, wife Sarah. Then an earlier, or possibly the same, Greenbury Stokes in Edgefield S.C. named in a will as the grandson of Richard Stokes Lunenburg, Va. 1 May 1789. Another time it is seen is around 1817 when an Elbert Greenberry Stokes is born to a David Stokes and Millen (Blount?) in Beauford S.C. From there the name has been passed on down to the present day.
It would be a good guess that a Stokes married a female Greenberry somewhere along the line and named his first son with that name.

Looking for information on a Sally Greenbury who married a James C. Fowler. They were probably from either N.C. or S.C. They had a son named Silas Greenbury Fowler who was born June 1869. Census records show she was born in N.C. while he was born in S.C. The name may have a different spelling but this is how it has been passed down in the family.

after many years of searching for the origin of the greenberry name in u.s. i did find an author who stated col.nicolas from england with wife and two daughters and one son later transported another daughter.one son charles dieid without issue .now----in an"early history of st. margaret's church {!692-1792}"on pg. 6, it states from the register: The first entry reads: "Isach Hirst was borne the 15th of September 1686" "A Nicholas Greenberry, grandson of the Colonel, was born January 5th and baptised February 18, 1701." My problem is accepting as fact the statement that Charles Greenberry died without issue. This obviously is wrong else how did Nicholas Greenberry have a grandson with the same surname. Also, it seems odd that this did not come out sooner. Now the problem, did that grandson live to marry and have children? Which would certainly help to explain the proliferation of the Greenberry name. If so, whom did he marry? Help-help-help.

Deb, my grandfather's name was Louis
Greensberry. However, I don't believe the names you listed were his wives. My father, Joe was Louis' son. His mother (My grandmother) name was Mary (nee' Cannon) Greensberry. They lived in Centerville, Mississippi. Their children are as follows: Joe Greensberry, Alfreddie Greensberry, Henrietta Greenserry, Lillie Mae Greensberry, Rosella Greensberry. They are all deceased. The spelling of our surname, according to my father is 'GREENSBERRY". His Father, Louis had a brother named Lee Greensberry, who is also deceased. If any of this information is helpful, please let me know. I have been trying to find ancestors for quite a time. We are all African Americans, who had made homes throughout the country. I am from Louisiana.

I am looking for any decendants of Louis and Annie Mae Greensberry. They both were from African decendants. My father, Joe James was Louis' son. When I first met him, Louis was living in Mississipi. This was around 1960's. He has since died. My father, Joe, died October 12, 1986. I think there are some Greensberry's in Michigan, however, they do not spell their last name the same. They do not include the "s". I understand Louis had a brother. I'm not sure of his name. I have heard they arrived in the U.S. from Jamaica? If you have any information on any of the above named people, let me hear from you.
