I have sent you a private message so as not to reveal my email to everyone. However, I want to post the information that according to St. Thomas (Bardstown, KY) Orphan register (1871), Henry and William Green had a younger brother Charles and an unnamed sister. What happened to these children? Were they placed in a baby home or were they adopted? Maybe someone out there is descended from these two.

Thanks for your response. I have had very little luck in locating any information on William Greene and his family. I am still trying to locate the paper work that I do have but wanted to respond to you as soon as possible. One thing I do recall was his mother's name was Mary McGuinn. Please tell me what you have learned.

I don't know how I missed this message after all these years! This is the same story I heard from my dad about his grandfather Henry Green. My great-grandfather and yours were brothers. Actually William and Henry were b. in Hickman, Fulton Co. KY. You can find the family on the 1860 and 1870 Censuses. I have some other interesting information. Please email me.

Hello -

I'm stuck! If anyone has any connections to these people, I would welcome any help you can offer:

James Edward Greene(abt 1883-1951). Wife: Louisa A. Green. Children Evelyn, Robert and Helen. Would anyone happen to know his parents' names or suggestions where I can get this?

William Green (1854-?). Immigrated from England around 1880. Married a gal named Maggie from Pennsylvania (I don't know her maiden name). Their children: Lizzy (1886-??), Louisa (1887-?), and Mary (1889-?). If anyone has any info about where William came from in England, parent's names or any info about Maggie or the kids, I would appreciate the help!

Thanks,
Kate

My bloodlines are mixed, however, they seem to be heavily English. I trace two lines back to the Mayflower and dozens of others who came in the great migration to Plymouth Colony of the early 1600s at one extreme and mid nineteenth century on the other end. To my knowledge, my "most Irish" line is my Dinan line (mother's father) which originated near Waterford, Ireland, and emigrated to America in 1859. Unfortunately, as you can see from my posts, my Greene line has a facinating family tradition, (cousins to Nathaniel Greene and James Madison) but no documentation or official record of any kind of Greene's or Madison's before my great great grandmother, Loana Greene.

jim

Thanks, I have no idea where my Greene's came from beyond NY of course. If you are looking for your family roots, Rhode Island might be a good place to look and I believe there are some published books on the greene family. At least one is mentioned elsewhere on this board.

jim

Since this post, I was able to contact the Albion township, Oswego Co, NY historian and learned two things: one Albion was founded in 1812 or 13 by the Henderson family (after Loana was born) and two there is no record of a Greene family in Albion during the first half of the 19th century. the town historian had recently searched for a Greene family and found a John Greene in Williamston, NY, in the 1840 census, but no records of Greene's in Albion. Also, unfortunately, the historian said that many if not all of the toewn's historic records were destroyed in fires over the years.

jim

This will teach me to check the tree before I start writing a post. Sure wish there was a draft option to save a post in progress.

What I should have added was that Loana Greene was born in:
Albion Township, Oswego Co.
Hi,

I am looking for my Greene ancestors. The most recent was my great great grandmother. Her name was Loana Greene, (she may also be identified as Laura or something similar). She was born 26 Nov 1811 in New York and died in 1872 in Michigan. She married Jefferson Pierce on 12 Feb 1833. They had children including Burton D (b 24 May 1834), Lucy A (b 2 June 1836), Gus D (b 28 Dec 1840), Freeman A (b 5 Aug 1843), Harriett A (b 2 Dec 1846), Deloss A 14 Sep 1848), and Lawanda P (also known as Myron) (b 15 Aug 1852)

Jim Bouck
jimbo174@verizon.net

ps.
I am looking for any records on this person. He is my great, great Grandfather and was married to Helena Matteson Sherman in Providence, RI.but they must have divorced as she later married Theodore Weinz. Their only child was Schuyler Rawson Greene. Samuel was born around 1855, I believe. His trail is very cold. I have pictures but no info other than he was a dentist.

Looking for any info on either of these people. Pinkney born about 1847 (NC) and Lettie about 1853 (GA). One of their children (Edd Frank Greene b. 10-18-1887 in White Co., GA) was my husbands grandfather. I believe there were at least 2 other sons..Rufus? and Lam?; there may be others. Have been unable to find anything other than 1 census record for a Pinkney & Lettie Green in the 1880 census in Nantahala township/Swain Co., NC. At the time there were 2 sons, Thomas C and William J. I'm not certain these are the correct people but the names and ages are in line. Any information would be greatly appreciated

Samuel Green, b. Canaan, CT 1750; relative of Gen. Nathanael Greene

I am seeking the ancestry of Samuel Green, drummer in
Rev. War who married Anna Clark, dtr of Reuben Clark and Mary Tryon. He died abt. 1796. I just saw a recent biographical sketch of a descendant that said he was a close relative of Gen. Nathanael Greene, the revolutionary war hero. It does not appear he's a brother, but he could be a cousin. Does anyone know of where I could find a fairly complete record of the descendants of Dr. John Greene, who was the immigrant ancestor of Nathanael Green?

Hello Joel. I am wondering if Dr. Benjamin F. GREEN(E), who married Hannah E. MERRILL, had a second wife? I have a genealogy report which states that an Elizabeth HANKINSON (b: 1830 Nova Scotia, Canada) married a Dr. B. F. GREEN(E) of Wilton, NH. I was wondering if you had the vital stats of Dr. GREENE and Hannah MERRILL?

Thanks in advance,
Adam Hankinson
