Hi Stan, Sorry for not getting back to you. My Dad was very sick and died in July, so had put genealogy on hold for a while. I have been researching my Greenfields. My Dad's Mum was Rose Greenfield and her father was Alfred Greenfield, born in 1858 at either Salford or Hilford, Middlesex. He was a stonemason, as was his father, William, born at Colchester, Essex. Have we got the same line? I was very interested in the Greenfields as my grandmother Rose always had stories to tell of the old days (the late 1800's and early part of the 1900's)and her family. There were six girls and two boys in my grandmother's family. The boys were Alfred and Arthur. I am not sure what happened to them, but had an idea that one died during the first World War.My query is, just how many brother's and sisters did Alfred (born 1858) and wife Sarah have? I have traced Ellen, William, Thresa, Alfred, Caroline, Alice, Frederick, Walter, Lucy and Henry. My grandmother always said there were 23 children in that family (no TV !!) Try as I might I cannot find any more. Trouble was that William was a journeyman stonemason, with the eldest children being born all over the place, until he obviously got a job at, or near, the new Hanwell public cemetery when it opened in the late 1850's. They were there for about six years and then moved to Birmingham where William became a manager in a stonemason business. That is where my grandmother and her siblings were born. I would be very interested to hear from you and any info you can give me if these are your Greenfields. Kind Regards from Thewinkler in Oz.

John Greenfield

My gg grandfather John Greenfield was born in Albany County, NY March 3, 1814 (according to his death certificate and his obit.) and died in Rome, NY on March 29, 1908. He married Nancy, who was born about 1825 and died April 20, 1893 in Rome. They had three known children, William, George and Anna.

The earliest I can find John is the 1880 Census. (I may have him in 1870, but the dates don’t match. I know Census records can be off.). After 1880, I’m good and have a lot of details, but before 1880 is a blank including John’s parents and any siblings. His parents were not listed on his death certificate or in his obituary.

John spent time in Herkimer County with his daughter Anna at the time of the 1892 NYS Census.

Death certificates indicate John and Nancy were buried in the Floyd Cemetery in Floyd, NY, but cemetery records don’t list them and there are no headstones, so getting info from the cemetery is a dead end. I believe they are buried there as a son and two daughters-in-law are there.

Greenfield was a very big name back then in Albany and Saratoga Counties and I know some came to Oneida County and beyond, but I haven’t been able to connect my John Greenfield to any others.

Any help in pointing me in the right direction or helping to make a connection to John’s ancestors would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Richard Owens
John M. Greenfield of Albany County, NY

John M. Greenfield (my gg grandfather) was apparently born March 3, 1814 in Albany County, NY. He died March 29, 1908 in Rome, NY. He married Nancy (b. 1825) in Knox and they had at least 3 known children; William, Anna and George, all born in Rome. John’s obit stated that his father died when he was 2 or 3 (1816-7?) and his mother died when he was around 7 (1821?). His parent’s names were not listed in the obit or on his death certificate. Nancy's parents are not listed on her DC or obit either. I wonder who took care of the 7 year old John after his mother’s death. I can follow John and Nancy after they moved to Rome but can't seem to get a handle on his parents, siblings (if any) and ancestors. Does any of this connect with your Greenfield’s? Thanks

Fanny GREENFIELD bn France, abt 1835, m unknown PAGE

My ancestor was Fanny Greenfield, born in France abt 1835 to a Mr PAGE between 1853 - 1859. I can't find this marriage in the UK records, so it 'might' have been in France?
By late 1859, Fanny has been widowed and is back in the UK, boarding a ship at Plymouth, bound for New Zealand & Australia.

Question: Does anyone have a Greenfield family living in France abt 1835 ?

Ever hopeful,
Julian Lovegrove,
Broadstairs, Kent UK

Hi, My Great grandfather was Alfred Greenfield, born in London 1858. Places stated on various censuses say Newington, Hilford Middlesex. He was a stonemason as was his father William, born in Colchester 1826 and his father, William, also born in Colchester. Alfred's father William, wife Sarah(born in Chelsea) and seven of their children lived in Hanwell near Ealing from about1858 to about 1865 and then moved to Birmingham (Aston). They all appear there on the 1871 census but then most of them disappear (apart from my direct line who stayed in Birmingham). Maybe they returned to London. There may be a connection as Alfred and William are strong Greenfield
male names. I am amazed at how many Greenfields there have been. I shouldn't be as one of my great grandfather's ancestors was supposed to have had 23 children !
Be interested to hear from you. Regards, Pauline

I don't know how I missed this message for so long. My Great-great grandmother was Permelia Greenfield (Bullard, Badger). Her son Henry Joseph Bullard is my line. I would love to share info and any photos also if they exist. I know that she is buried in Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Bridgeport Alabama with Peter Badger. I would be quite interested in learning more about the Badger children.I know H. Joe Bullard did visit his half siblings and apparently died while on a visit there and was then brought back to Greeley,Colorado for burial where his wife was already buried. So are we 4th half cousins??? I just love this.

Search for adopted mom's biological family

Having difficulty searching for mother's biological relatives. My mom was illegitimate and there is a great deal of missing information. Looking for descendants of Philip and Bertha Greenfield Rosenfeld. Bertha was my mother's birth mother. Sydell Berger Vincent-my mother- (deceased) of Cleveland, OH, was married to George Vincent (deceased). She was adopted by William and Molly Berger in 1924 (August?)The children of Philip and Bertha Rosenfeld were Joseph, Paul (now deceased) and Sarah. Paul lived and died in California. Joseph remained in the Bronx, NY. Sarah's married name and whereabouts unknown. Would like to find their children, grandchildren. Know that Greenfields and Rosenfelds are living elsewhere in US- Washington State, California, Florida and still some in NYC. Met a Jeffrey Greenfield of Long Island, NY- his parents living in Florida, maybe Delray or Boca Raton. He veried he was my cousin. Would not disclose information for some reason. His parents were cousins who married (a Greenfield and Rosenfeld). My mom's biological father was Jeffrey Bernerd, movie producer- looking for his descendants from children and stepchildren: Jeffrey Bernard, Jr,(possibly also known as Jack Bernhard or Bernard) Joan Martineau, Robert and Donald Wolfe- All from Los Angeles. Would like to know if they are alive and who their children/grandchildren are. Robert and Donald are stepsons. Their mother was second wife to Jeffrey Bernerd, Sr- her name was Elizabeth. Is Joan her daughter or Jeffrey Sr's? Would like to contact anyone from family in California to verify my mother's family background/history.

She came to Canada..where she stayed until her passing on March 28, 1983. Her and George had 8 children...all born in Canada. Any info that you may provide would be greatly appreciated. I am very interested to find any of her siblings and/or parents. It is believed she may have been from around the Sussex area...However, this fact has not been confirmed. Thank You.
