I am married to Charles E. Gifford, born in Old Town, ME.
I about fell out of chair when reading the posts. Jean Greffard, Louis dit Lecoq Greffard, Theophile Greffard, Elisabeth Guyon...heck you people are all my cousins!
I have old pedigree charts that my husband inherited from his uncle, Lester Gifford. I will try to get them posted.

Can everyone send me their information? I would love to add it to my own. My paperwork goes back to the early 1600's and I would especially like to see if I can get it back farther. I would like to know about these areas in Canada. My email is judithgifford@hotmail.com. Thanks all!

You must be a cousin. I have probably the same information as you dating back to Jean Greffard and his wife Louise Roy. I would be happy to send what I have, but would have to figure out how to do that on-line or mail it to you.

Do you have any specific information about the family? In my case Francois Xavier Greffard (Gifford) was the first to enter Maine sometime in the 1840s. In his old age (I think) he moved to Old Town where he married Virginia Mayo (2nd wife) in 1872.

I would love to find out some REAL information about the family (that is beyond the names, dates etc).

Please correspond. If you would like to send me a note directly I am bobgifford@starpower.net. I live in Maryland

I haven't heard from you lately. I would like to find pictures of any of the 19th century Gifford that you may have. It seems to me that the family basically immigrated to Old Town as a base of operations in the U.S. You may have more real insight into the family than anyone.

We haven't chatted for a while. Have you been doing any interesting research pertaining to the Greffards?

Sandra, can you tell me anything more about your family? I think your grandfather is the son of my ggrandfather Peter Napoleon Gifford. I know that Peter (m. to Augusta Prchal) had four children. Nelson, Lester, Ella and Florence. Does any of this sound familiar?

My ggrandfather was Dewitt Gifford married to a Alice Peck. My gggrandmothers name was Ada Fleming. My grandfather had twin brothers named Harry and Harold, Ray and Howard. My grandfathers uncles were Jim William and Bert. That's all I can find out about the whole family. I would appreciate any help you could give me. Thanks

Sounds like you're looking for Gifford's and not Greffard's. In any case, I don't have anything that can help you. Sorry.
