Surnames: Gregoire, Philippeau, dit Maltheis, Malte, Sanders
Louis Mathieu Gregoire married Genevieve Philippeau in southern Louisiana about 1779 or so. His father's name was Mathieu Gregoire. Louis was surnamed "dit Maltheis", and at least once his daughter was called "Malte". This has led me to look for Mathieu Gregoire in Malta, but I haven't had any success. Does anyone know of a Louis Gregoire migrating to southern LA in the 1770's or so?
