Merci beaucoup, Monsieur Grenier!

I could not find anything more than an index listing of their marriage, no record of it with parent names. This is great! Although how the mother went from "Zenaide" to "Mary" is still a puzzle, my guess is the language barrier rose its ugly head.

May I ask the source you used to look this up?

If you prefer, feel free to email me directly at tmthylmnt@gmail.com

Hi. It looks like we are from very different branches.
Since you are at the beginning of your journey, may I make a few suggestions? Go to ancestry.ca to access the boards that are Canuckian. Google That's My Family! for access to National Archives' genealogy website. It has a wealth of information on it. Now I found your grandmother Pauline on the Canadian Census of 1911 already in the Gaspé area! They lived in Newport. This is from automated genealogy.com
Giroux Jean M Head Mar Oct 1872 38 Giroux Malvina F Wife Mar Sep 1874 33
Giroux Pauline F Daughter Single May 1904 7
Giroux Jean Vital M Son Single Mar 1908 3

Censuses are never completely accurate. Just use them as a guide. You will not the mother's age ought to be 36 not 33.

So now you know the name of the great grandmother is Malvina, possibly Blais. The most valuable records in Quebec are in the the Drouin Index;there you will find parish records for baptisms, marriages and burials. It is included with a subscription to ancestry.ca or your library might have access to it. Also they may have the hard cover books for marriages as well.
So you will need to get more information with regard to dates and places from your folks or other relatives. From 1850 on is the challenge. Once you have those generations uncovered it gets much easier!
Happy Hunting!
N

My grandmother was Pauline Giroux,I beleive she was born in May of 1903 died summer 1985...her Mother was a Grenier...and I think before that the name Blais...They often talked of La Beauce...Pauline married Albert Gaudreau and they homesteaded in the Gaspe region
I am just starting to look into my past and wonder if we are on the same line

Joanne was a deadbeat and Raymond was in a home or something. I never met any of the other children. Elizabeth was not a nice person. She lived with us until she died. My father died when I was 8 and my mother remarried. She remembers meeting some Yevcheks in Farrell, maybe a Rosemary?

I don't know if there is a connection. My grandfather Eugene, born in 1903, had a brother Henry, but I don't know the names of his wife or children. I have a vague memory that his wife was named Marie. I know that they had at least one son. There were a number of siblings, but I only met Henry and a sister who was a nun in Groton. Her name was Theresine, but that may have been a chosen name when she entered the convent.
My grandparents lived in Massachusetts. My grandmother's name was Alice Dufresne and I believe she was born in the US.
Is any of thist consistent with what you know?

There is a Henry Greatorex listed on the 1880 census for Derby, Ansonia, New Haven area. He was the head of household with a family. The other Greatorex listed for that area in 188o was my William Greatorex. I don't know if there is a connection but further searching is necessary. It could be a good possibility. If you would like I can write down the info and send it back to you. Let me know. Nancy

Jacques Girard dit Girardin (Jacques & Marie-Geneviève Giroux)
in May of 1833 in Ste-Marie-de-Beauce.

My brick wall lies in the fact that the PRDH lists a few Pierre-Alexises in the Beauce( one born in 1788 the other 1778 and their fathers are both Pierres!
And that's just the male line I haven't even attempted Marie-Anne snr's line!
Mathilde Grenier married to Moses DeLore in Oregon FYI

I have in my possession a newspaper article written April 12, 1972. It is about Mathilde Grenier De Lore. I would attach the article, but it is very long. I would be more than glad to send it to a family member.

The writer of the article remembers a visit to The Dalles, Oregon in 1966, where he met Mathilde who was 103 at the time. She died a couple of years later. She is living with her daughter Ethel DeLore Bell who is 74. Mathilde had been living with her son Moses at his ranch near Maupin, Oregon, when she fell and broke her hip. Mathilde then moved in with her daughter Ethel.

It is stated that Mathilde moved with her family when she was 10 to Juniper Flat, near present Wapinitia, Oregon. Mathilde married a homesteader when she was of marrying age. (I take this to be Moses DeLore.)

I looked at the 1910 census for Oak Grove Pct, Wasco county, Oregon. There is a Moses DeLore family listed.

Source Citation: Year: 1910;
Census Place: Oak Grove Pct, Wasco county, Oregon
Series: T624 Roll: 1290 Page: 61
Enumerated May 2, 1910
lines 67-73,
Name: Moses DeLore
Age: 56
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1854
Birthplace: Oregon
Relation to Head of House: Head
Spouse's Name: Matilda E.
Race: White
Household Members:
Moses DeLore 56y M, W, Married 29y OR OR OR Farmer
Matilda E wife F, W, 41y Married 29y, 6 children/5 living, WA Canada OR
Mabel V. dau F, W, 16y S, OR OR WA
Moses Jr. son M, W, 14y S OR OR WA
Lena M. dau F, W, 9y S, OR OR WA
Gottlieb Teschner Son-in-law M, W, 30y married 1 year Russia Russia Germany immigrated 1886 Na Laborer Odd jobs
Ethel R.
Maria Grenier

I am looking for information on Maria Grenier of St. Mathieu Provence, Canada born in 1902. Her Father was a Pierre and her mother was Milinda Poirier Grenier. Maria had two brothers Euclid and Roland Grenier. She also has two sisters a Donat and the other all I have is her married name in Montreal, Canada. Mr's Lionel McDuff.

Maria's middle name is not really known although her daughter's death certificate lists it as A for Ann/ and a marriage record from Quebec/ St. Marc's Parish shows a Maria Elmira married Joseph Dauphinais on Oct 26, 1921. I think it is the correct marriage record of my grandparents, because my Aunt tells me they were marrie din St. Marcs. But can never sure of anything. Any Help would be nice.
