Griers of Philadelphia

I am looking for information regarding the family of David Grier. David married Jane Culbert. Although David's origin and dates are unknown, we do know quite a bit about Jane. Jane was the daughter of James and Esther Culbert. She was from County Donegal, Ireland and born around 1774. We know she emigrated from Ireland sometime before 1836, probably before 1830. We know she settled in Philadelphia with David. It is unknown whether David was born in Ireland or the US. We also do not know where or when David and Jane were married, or where/when their children were born.

David died sometime before 1850. We know that Jane died April 15, 1854, in Philadelphia and was buried at the Machpelah Burial Grounds. She had a brother, James Culbert, who married Elizabeth Park, and settled in Balleighan, County Donegal, Ireland. James Culbert died in February 1833. James' oldest child, Matthew, immigrated to the US around 1830 and settled in Alabama. In 1836, James' daughter, Esther Jane Culbert, immigrated to Philadelphia along with brother, James Jr., and cousin, Robert Culbert. Esther Jane Culbert lived for several years with "Aunt Jane Grier".

The letters that Esther Jane Culbert wrote to her family suggests that David and Jane Grier had at least two sons, Samuel Grier (who asks Mathew if there are any pretty girls in Alabama) and John Grier, who is a grocer. Esther Jane further instructs the family to write to her in care of John Grier, Grocer on Market Street North Side. The last letter was dated in May 1842.

In 1841, being the industrious girl she was, Esther Jane Culbert managed to save up enough money to have her entire family in Ireland come to Philadelphia - including: widowed mother Elizabeth, brother Andrew, sister Nancy, brother Joseph (who drowned on the trip over), sister Elizabeth and sister Catherine. Mother, Andrew and Catherine, would later return to Balleighan, while Nancy and Elizabeth remained with "Aunt Jane Grier" in Philadelphia.

Any assistant would be appreciated.
