A short history on George Grierson, born 1763, by David Alan Grierson, 1960 (aka Lyon), copyright 2007, based on an earlier work by Lt.-Col. J.R.H. Greeves, 1953:
George Grierson, born c1763, the only son of Boulter Grierson & Mary Wilkinson, entered Trinity College Dublin on the 6th day of July, 1779, aged 15, & graduated BAA. in 1784. On attaining his majority in that year he became King's Printer, continuing at 28, Parliament Street. On 2nd April, 1791 he married, at St. Thomas Church, Dublin, Charlotte, daughter of Thomas & Dorothea (nee Forster) Thornton, of Greenville Countyy Cavan, Ireland.
George Grierson (born 1763) & Charlotte Thornton had issue, five, known, viz.:

Letters of Administration (with the Will annexed) of the personal estate of Maria Hester Grierson, late of Rathgar-road, County Dublin, Ireland, Spinster deceased who died 2nd July, 1860 at the same place were granted at the Principal Registry to George Abraham Grierson, of the Manor House, Malahide, County Dublin, Esquire the sole & acting executor of Charlotte Dorothea Forster Grierson & the Administrator of Constantia Grierson, Spinsters deceased the universal legatee; &
(5) Constantia Grierson; Effects under £3000 - dated 24th August, 1863. Letters of Administratior [sic] (with the Will annexed) of the personal estate of Constantia Grierson, late of Rathgar-road, County Dublin, Ireland, Spinster deceased who died 10th August, 1863, at same place were granted at the Principal Registry to George Abraham Grierson, of Manor House, Malahide, County Dublin, Esquire - the acting executor of Charlotte Dorothea Forster Grierson, Spinster deceased the universal legatee.
About 1810 he is described as 'printer of the Dublin Gazette," & in 1814 he took into partnership John Rowe Power. In the same year he was adjudged bankrupt, but he seems to have carried on, as we find him in 1820 in partnership with Martin Keene at the old address. His wife had died in August, 1812. He was then living at Rathfarnham House, & seems to have been something of a sportsman, being connected for some years with the "Heathfield Club," a body of gentlemen who had a lease of the shooting over the Archbishop of Dublin's moors on Heathfield Mountain; of this club he was at one time Secretary. He died at his house in North Frederick Street, Dublin, 31st August, 1821, & was buried with his wife at Rathfarnham; he was succeeded as King's Printer by his elder son, George Abraham Grierson.
