Ernest was found on a commerative in 201 Officer’s Mess, which included a Photograph, Royal Warrant and set of Medals donated by his nephew, Major ……. He was awarded the OBE, BWM, VM, T(E)D [awarded 23 September 1930], Defence Medal [WW2], War Medal [WW2], King George V Jubilee Medal, and also had emblems on his VM, indicating he was mentioned in despatches. In 1915 he was serving with the 3rd Northumbrian Field Ambulance. An MRIC exists for him indicating he entered France on 6 June 1916, and confirms his entitlement to the BW, VM and
