Our family name was apparently changed in the 1800's from some derivative to Grove. Specifically, George Lair Grove?

Mathias Grill Family Mitterdorf, Austria

This is my grandfather who immigrated to Michigan, born Mar 17, 1863. He had 3 sisters, Vendeline, Minnie who died in 1941 near Vienna, Veronica born 9/4/1868 & migrated to US & married, Johann born 3/18/1870, and brother Franz. Their parents were Mathias Grill and Veronica Kump. I cannot find any information on these other three children any where nor on my great-grandparents. They were devote Catholics, all six children attended Catholic schools, & spoke English. Vendeline became a teaching nun at Holy Ghost or Spirit Convent [was translated as Villa but think it's Convent]. I cannot find this location either. Somehow, I'd truly like to find this genealogy and have been trying for years. Anyone have a clue where I can look for Mitterdorf, Gottschee, Steiermark, Austria? Getting nothing on them but know the names are RIGHT. Would appreciate help. Thanks.

Looking for info on my German grandfather...

My grandfather (John Grill) was born in Germany in the late 1800's (I suppose), I am not sure in what year he came to Canada but he had three children with his wife, Sophie. They were Joseph (January 23, 1929), Helen (not sure of her date of birth but around 3 years younger than the first), and then William (not sure of date of birth either). He settled in Val David in the Laurentians, Quebec, Canada. My father (Joseph) was born in Montreal and grew up speaking Ukranian, learned english in the street playing ball with the other kids and then french when he met my mother, Claudette Guenette. If anyone could give me ANY insight on this man whatsoever, I would SO appreciate it. I will supply any further information where available...my sons (15 yrs. and 14 months) and I hope to get more information on who our ancestors were and what their journey was that led to us here today.

Peter Grill, b. abt. 1835, Any information?

Peter Grill, b.abt. 1830's and married Louise Shower, b. abt. 1839. Peter and Louise had one child, Frank Grill, b.June 5, 1859 in Baltimore, MD. Frank married Catherine Keiser b. Dec 28, 1869 in Baltimore. They had 13 children. I have good records of Frank and his family but what I don't
have is any record of Peter Grill's birth or where he came from. Reportedly, in the family history, there's mention that he came from Philadelphia to Baltimore but that's uncertain. Can anyone shed light on this? Thanks, Charlie
