Hi all , Dickson made a post the other day cannot find it so will start another one on this line that has a lot of confusion, like Dickson wrote the other day , a lot more research needs to be done to try and strighten out this confusion,
Here is the marriage record found and sent to me by Donna Wright back in 2001, you can find the Marriage records that she posted on Grimes GenForum # 2201, Note that Stokes is not listed here, do not know if the reseachers added the Stokes, Stokes info can be found on Grimes GenForum # 3274,
Wilkes Co, GA MARRIAGES From 1791 to 1850
GRIMES, John marr. WHARRY, Sarah 03/26/1792
Here is something i found when i 1st started searching the Grimes line, Cleburne was way north of Dale Co., Al but i kept everything that had Grimes on it :-),
Cleburne Co. Vol 1
page 104 The DAVID Grimes is at Pinhook, near Rabbittown, it was the location of an early Church of Christ, Grantley.
page 108 ANN Grimes m JAMES THOMPSON May 28, 1837, in Benton Co. In 1860 James D. Thompson was the Wealthiest man at Shoal Creek, counting his holding as valued at $ 4,380.-
There is a Grimes Cemetery near Grantley Creek.
That's all i can add hope it helps :-)
