Marine's Parents Given Silver Star for Sniper Victim
A silver star has been awarded posthumously to Marine Lance Cpl Michael B. Grimes, who was killed in Vietnam last year when struck in the chest by a snipers bullet.
The award was presented to the Marine's parents Mr and Mrs. Don D. Shaidell of 3964 Tropical Drive in Studio city by Congressman James Corman.
Grimes, a 1964 graduate of North Holywood H.S. was a radio operator. He attended San Fernando Valley State College in Northridge until he decided to enlist in April of 1966. He was active in the Glendale YMCA and was graduated as an honor cadet form the Marine Recruit Center at San Diego, Ca.

Michael Bryan Grimes was born 28 nov of 1946 in Los Angeles county calif, his mother's maiden name was Dewey,and he died in Vietnam March 22 in 1967.
