My grandmother was Janie L.Grimes 1899-1996 her father George W. Grimes 1872-1963. She was born in Alabama, married Charles C.Solomon 1892-1946. They lived in Selma,Ala. and he was a police officer killed in the line of duty in Selma. George Grimes married Lydia C. Lambert. They lived most of their life in Jay Florida,Santa Rosa County. Are these people in your line?

Hi We have been looking for the father, Mother and any sibling of William Harrison Grimes born 1808 in Maryland (according to the census).
He married Keziah Clubb on 10/3/1831 in Md. Keziah was born 1798 and died 1/5/1882. William died 2/15/1878.
Both in Maryland and are both buried in Prince George's Co., Maryland. They had four children and we have information on them.
The big question is were did William Harrison Grimes (sometimes known as Harrison Grimes) come from and by whom.

Ada was the daughter of Jacob Jackson Tyree and Marjorie A. Dean. Jacob Jackson Tyree was the son of Mariah T. Whiteside and Daniel C. Tyree. Daniel C. Tyree was the son of Clarinda Davenport and John Tyree. I have searched for years for the parents of John Tyree who was born about 1789 in Virginia. Does John connect to the Daniel Tyree line? Grimes from Catonsville and Baltimore, MD

I'm trying to map the descendants of Charles E. Grimes (b. 1826 in Maryland (probably Baltimore), who was married first to Emily around 1850--they had children Charles (b. ~1851) and Harry (b. ~1853), then Charles E. was married to Susana and had Morris (b~ 1869), Walter (b~1870), Virginia, (b.~1874), and Howard, (b~1879). They started in Baltimore and ended up in Catonsville, MD. I have part of Howard's line to the present, but am looking for cousins.
Howard S. Grimes and his wife Rose had Helen, Ruth, Charles, Howard, Mary, Richard, Carolyn, and Edwin. Please help.

I am researching my husband's family (Grimes) - not with much success (past the past two generations) I am afraid....

Therefore, I am interested in anything related to the surname Grimes; I am hoping that eventually I will find a connection somewhere....

I would welcome the photo - who knows, I may see something in it?

And one more thing - my husband's family is African American..... so if your family is caucasian, then there may not be a connection, but if your family is African American, then there might be....

William & Dorcas Aubrey Grimes, Pennsylvania to Morgan & Noble, Ohio

Hello,

Looking for information on my 2nd Great Grandparents, William and Dorcas (Aubrey) Grimes. I believe William was born in Pennsylvania, unknown location, abt 1804 and died 3 Aug 1892 in Sarahsville, Noble, Ohio. I believe Dorcas as well was born in Pennsylvania, unknown location, May 1814 and died in 1902 in Sarahsville, Noble, Ohio. They are both buried in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Sarahsville.

William & Dorcas were married about 1830 and we know they travelled, probably in the 1840s to Noble Township, Morgan County, Ohio by covered wagon with their first 10 children. They are found there in the 1850 census, and in Centre Township, Noble County, Ohio in the 1860 census.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi, my name is Kris. I live in St. Paul Minnesota. I was looking on line about relatives of Burleigh Grimes. I am 32yo. My dad always told me that I was related to "spit ball Grimes", through his mothers family. aka my grandma. It seems that he is from Clear Lake Iowa. Which is about 115 miles south, from St. Paul. *Geo Grimes (c1821-?) marr. Tamar Tuffin (c1852-?)bef 1852.
*Son Wm Grimes (c1852-1933)marr Emma Elizabeth White (c1853-1881)in 1876. She was the sister to my g-grandfather William Frederick White (1850-bef1922)-children of Frederic George DeWitt/White (c1820-c1904?) & Amelia Jenkins (c1820-1899).
Their son was George Frederick Arthur Grimes (1877-1929) who marr. Annie Clarke (1879-1963) in 1900 in St. John's.
Their child was Evelyn Gertrude Grimes (1910-1994) who marr. Frederick Temple Atkinson (1902-1977). They had 2 children.
*William Grimes remarried 3 times to Lavinia Fry (1867-1921)in 1893. Their children were Rupert, Mabel & another female.
*William also married Rhylla Dowden Torraville and Miriam Whitingham. No issue from either marriage.

Nellie Louise Armstrong, 90, of Malta, Ohio died Tuesday, July 28, 2009 at 10:50 a.m., at the Riverside Country Care Center in McConnelsville, Morgan county, Ohio.

She was born May 27, 1919 in Sharpsburg, Athens county, Ohio to the late Robert A. and Maria E. Beard Grimes.
She was a machinist at Cleveland Graphite in McConnelsville, Ohio.
She was a member of Marion Rebekah Lodge 785 in Chesterhill, Ohio and former member of Lacherie Petite Mothers Club, Good Neighbor Club and was an avid Bowler.

She is survived by her daughter, Sandy and George Massey of Malta, Ohio; six grandchildren, Carma Harlow, Timi Bussey, Selena Lewellen, Valerie Wiggins, Tonya Mock, and Brian Massey; ten great grandchildren, Tori and Dari Harlow, Justin and Jarred Mock, Dominique Massey, Shayna Bussey, Pvt. Brody Wiggins, Lance Wiggins, Mariah and Makyla Lewellen.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Elza (Red) Armstrong (1976); one son, Earl Tucker; one brother, Floyd Grimes; and two sisters, Emily Carpenter and Ella Quinn.

Services will be held Friday, July 31, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the Stone-Matheney Funeral Home in Chesterhill with Pastor Mike Wells officiating.
Burial will follow at the Mt. Hermon Cemetery.

Looking for information on these two people...Lawrence Michael Sr, had a son also Lawrence Michael Jr, who came over from Newry, Ireland (possibly County Down? Not to sure on my Irish geography here) and settled in the Georgia/Alabama region.

any information would be great!
