Chris is my great-grandfather. I still have a few questions about Marie (his wife) and about some of their children. But I thought I would give you two possible leads going in the other direction. One is www.ahnenforschung-klatt.de/Ahnentafel/is03/is03_425.htm It has a Johann Carl Frederich Grimm born 04 Jan 1832 and his parents, his wife, her parents, and the children born in Germany. Number two is castlegarden.org. Go to Search. For ship, put Humboldt, name Grimm, Years 1867 to 1867. For 18 Jul 1867, there is a list of Grimms. Some entries use first names, some use middle names. The ages don't match the birth year. But it is something I would like to look into.

Thank you for your reply, since I posted this query I have learned about the Christian Grimm family. One of his daughters, Alma visted our home when I was a young child and my Dad called her cousin, but I did not know she was one of Cristian's daughters. Are you also researching the Grimm/Schwalbe family? If I can be of any help I will be glad to share or answer any questions.

Stacy,
If you're still out there I'd love to talk. Benjamin Franklin Grimm is my great great great grandfather. I come through his son Edgar Hollis Grimm. He had two other daughters--Ella M. Grimm born 12 Jan 1872 and Lydia Viola Grimm born 8 Jun 1884. I have quite a bit of info on descendants but almost nothing on his parents.

I'd love to exchange info with you [or anyone else reading this]. Please contact me.

Maren Stephenson
fastmaren@yahoo.com

Rev. Robert E. Grimm,born,in Chicago, Illinois.
Rev. Robert E. Grimm A great and generous man peacefully passed from our midst.
on Monday morning, August 17,
with Roberta, his wife of 65 years,
and his two sons at his side.
In the last month of his life he was surrounded in celebration by his extended family. Our husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend brought joy to us all through his infectious laughter and his enduring presence of warmth and love. Robert E. Grimm was born May 1, 1922 in Chicago, Illinois.
He graduated from Denison University during World War II and then served as an officer in the Navy. He attended seminary and received his degree from Colgate Rochester Divinity School. Ordained in the Congregational Church, his first call was to serve in a community church in Pickstown, South Dakota. He left this first and only parish to begin his life’s work in ecumenical ministry, first with the South Dakota State Council of Churches, then in Erie Pennsylvania, in Syracuse New York and finally in Buffalo beginning in 1976. Bob became a community leader and reconciler, working to build bridges between churches and denominations. He sought to empower disadvantaged persons as president of the Interfaith Housing Commission and the Crusade for Opportunity. He traveled to the Middle East and worked with interfaith organizations to promote mutual understanding between Palestinian and Israeli groups. In Buffalo, Bob served as Executive Director of the Council of Churches until his retirement in 1987.
He remained active with Concerned Ecumenical Ministry, co-founded the Coalition for Economic Justice, and worked in support of the Peace Center, the VIVE Center for Refugees, and the Jubilee Loan Fund. Bob lent his deep and powerful baritone voice to a number of choral groups, including the Royal Serenaders , the Western N.Y. Chorale and the Pilgrim St. Luke’s Choir. He was an avid golfer and supporter of the arts. Bob leaves his wife Roberta J. Grimm;
sisters Mary Lois Peterson (Robert) of Milwaukee, Wisc. and Marcia Schultz (Steve) of St. Paul, Minn; brother-in law Howard E. Johnson of Indiana;
sons Michael Grimm (Karen) of LaFayette, N.Y. and Mark Grimm, Esq. (Catherine) of Providence, R.I.; daughters Carole Barnes (Dr. Edwin) of Ft Thomas, Ky.; Leslie Archer (Craig) of LaFayette, N.Y.
and Dr. Nancy Grimm (Dr. Scott Collins) of Tempe, Ariz. He is predeceased by his daughter, Marcia Grimm, Esq. (Michael Buck) of San Francisco, Calif. Bob’s family extends across the country with 18 grandchildren and six great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will be present from 5-8 p.m. on Friday, August 28, 2009 at Pilgrim St. Luke’s Church, 335 Richmond Ave, Buffalo, N.Y., where a service of remembrance will be held at 6 p.m. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, September 26, 2009 at 1 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, One Symphony Circle in Buffalo, N.Y.

Congregational Church,"
Pilgrim St. Luke’s Church,"
Erie Times-News on August 23, 2009
I know this is an old old post, but I have contact with one of Gus Grimm's Granddaughters. That place on Archer that was mentioned was built by Gus. He owned taverns in Lyons, Summit, and present day Bedford Park. He was a professional wrestler at one time. Bought beer from Capone? I'd like to hear more about that one. Gus died in the late 30's.

Herman Grimm owned a tavern in Lyons IL, in the teens. He sold the place to Gus in 1913.

Bruce

Grimm from Germany

Researching the ancestors and descendents of my third great grandmother Rebecca Grimm. She was born in Hannover, Germany about 1823. Departing from the port of Bremen, she emigrated to America with her sister Emma Margaretha Grimm, a few years older, arriving in New York City in 1840. Somewhere between 1840 and 1845 she married Henry Seebeck, also from Hannover, Germany, who arrived in New York in 1839. Their children were born during the 1840s and 1850s. The 1860 US Census finds the family living on the west side of Manhattan. In 1849 Henry Seebeck purchased a cemetery lot in Brooklyn and conveyed half of it to his wife's family, so there's a bunch of other Grimms buried there as well as Seebecks. Like everybody else, I would be interested to know if my third great grandmother Rebecca Grimm was any type of relation to The Brothers Grimm (Jacob and Wilhelm). If you think you are related to Rebecca Grimm and her family or have any additional info regarding a possible connection to The Brothers Grimm, please contact me. Thanks.

I believe that Henry Charles Grimm married to Barbara A are the parents of Harry Jacob, but having a hard time finding anything to back that up. They married in 1867 and Harry was born in 1868, I've found that they had two daughters, Agatha and Mary, I figure that Harry had already moved out, but can't find him.
