Obituary for Harold C. Grobe

Harold C. Grobe, 81, of Killeen (Texas) died Monday, Feb. 25, 2002 in Killeen.
Funeral services were held Friday, March 1, at 10:30 a.m. in the chapel of the Schaetter Funeral Home with the Rev. Perry Woerner officiating. Interment followed in Der Stadt Friedhof where he was accorded full military honors by a U.S. Army Detachment from Fort Hood.
Grobe was born on Oct. 27, 1920 in the Crabapple community, the son of Paul H. Grobe and Milda Woerner Grobe. He was married to Anna Allen for over 50 years. She died on May 19, 2001.
Grobe was retired from the U.S. Army, serving from Aug. 21, 1940 to Jan. 31, 1967 and received numerous medals and awards for meritorous service.
He was associated with a well drilling company in Killeen.
Grobe was a member of the VFW, the American Legion and the Disabled American Veterans.
He is survived by a daughter and her spouse, Loidene and Brian Hall of Leander, three grandchildren and one great grandchild.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters: Florence, Mrs. Slacks Hartmann; Irene, Mrs. Levi Mueller; Maye, Mrs. Fred Rhamy and Virginia, Mrs. Preston Penn and a brother, Paul Elgin Grobe.
