My Name is William A. Schubert III. My Great Grandfather Frank married a Veronica Grochowska. I assume the a on the end means female, and an i on the end means male. Is this correct?

Do you know anything about her? She died in the early 30's, lived in Philadelphia Pa., born around 1868, came here in the mid 1870's, and was very active with the Polish National Alliance.

Any ideas?

I am looking for information on my great great great grandmother Francisca Grochowska. All I know is that she married Joannes Sowinski and I know that they definitely had 1 daughter Josepha (Jozefa or Josephina). Josepha married Antonius Poteracki in Zabartowo in 1882 and Josepha was 18 at the time.

I just found this information out recently so any information on Francisca and her family would be appreciated.

Thank you.

Judi

Amelie (Jaster) Grochowski was probably born in Wiesensee, Posen, Prussia. She is the older sister of my Great Great Grandfather Gustav Jaster. I have Gustav's original marriage document and it states that he was born there.
Gustav had a daughter named Elsa Amalie (Jaster) Mietz who is my Great Grandmother. I have her original Baptism document and 2 witness names on there are Herman Ross and Amalie Grochowski signed 1 July 1889. Both of the documents are written in German although this all took place in Chicago. Also Gustav is Living with Rudolph and Amalie in Chicago in the 1880 Census. If you would like scans of these documents just drop me an e-mail at d.mietz@mchsi.com or d_yermak_er@yahoo.com Ed Mietz

I hope you are still checking this and/or your email. You are speaking about my great-grandmother!!! Ellen died in 1952 in Akron, Oh and is buried in Gree Cemetery in Mogadore, OH. Her daughter Julia was my grandmother. She died in 1981. After divorcing Frank, Ellen changed her and her children's last names to Eckler. This name - my grandmother, Julia told us - was Ellen's mother's maiden name. Frank came from Poland, but I haven't been able to find out exactly when.

Feel free to contact me....

Tami

I am looking for information on Julius (b. 1870) who is my grandfather. He immigrated about 1882 from Russian Poland from the information on the 1900 census. He would have been 12 years old then. However, I cannot find any information on his parents. Their names are Sylvestor Grochowski and Rosalia Piebrasiewska, (taken from marriage certificate) and may have lived in Vinlius Lithuania. I have all the information on the family after he immigrated, but would like to obtain more information on the family in Poland or Lithuania.

I'll try to help.

Were you aware of a major manuscript donation made to the Milwaukee County Museum on behalf of the Grochowski family? The Grochowska surname and Frank Grochowski are mentioned in the papers-pictures.

Check http://www.google.com/search?q=cache:www.uwm.edu/Library/arc...

My grandfather's(Stanley John Grajewski/Graiewski)brother or cousin was Jan Grajewski. Jan married Marianna.

Jan and Marianna's daughter, Maria Grochowska) had three children: Aleksander, Romauld and Florentyna. Maria was born in 1904.

Aleksander and Romauld live somewhere in the USA. Jan is deceased. Florentyna married a Kowalewska and still lives in Poland.

I grew up in Oshkosh.

Also try JMG-Miami@msn.com

His web site listed the Grajewski and Grochowska families as ancient families in the Sulvalki area. Provide him with names, dates, etc. He will check the records.

Send a private e mail. I will respond with current Grajewski addresses and telephone numbers.
frank t grochowski married to ellen pulaski NY

Pulaski-Eckler- Grochowski
Seeking information about Ellen Sofia Pulaski's (Polaski) parents, and birthdate. She was born in NY, possibly waverly, abt. 1876. She had a sibling who lived to adulthood, Catherine born abt 1871 (whose twin died very young). She was possibly living with, but probably not married to Mr. Eckler, some family sources say his first name was Edmund, although i don't know for sure. Prior to this she was briefly married to Frank T Grochowski. She divorced him in Akron, Summit co. OH in 1919. She and her children are listed in the OH census for 1920 under surname Grokoski, but as Eckler in 1930. She had 5 children, all born in NY: Helen Eva b.12/22/01 in Olean, NY, Julia b. 1910 NY, Paul b.1908 NY, Thomas b.1904 NY, and Maurine b. 1898 NY(maybe Schenectady).
She lists the children's father as having been born in Poland or Germany, so I am unsure as to whether Frank or Mr. Eckler is the father of her children. Supposedly her marriage to Frank was arranged when she was only 16 and he was much older. I have found him listed in the 1893 Elmira city directory living with his son, but not with any wife or other children. Both of her parents were born in NY as well. I'm looking for either marriage info to Grochowsky in NY/USA, or birth info via census for this. I'd like to find her with her parents in NY, probably the northern/western areas. Their names may be John and Anna, and I don't know that Eckler isn't her maiden name. Any/all help appreciated!!!!!

Re: to all Grochowskis

Greetings genealogy researcher:
I would like to share some information on the surname GROCHOWSKI or GROCHOWSKE. Also consider the surname HAASE

My grandmother was Clara Grochowske (Born: 3-15-1884, Chicago IL, Died: 9-28-1979, Chicago IL). She married my grandfather, John (Johan) Julius Haase on 6-3-1907 in Chicago. Her Parents were Rudolph Grochowsky and Amalie nee Jaster. Family lore places the Grochowske-ski-sky family in close proximity to the Haase family while in Germany. Substantial evidence indicates Grandfather John Julius Haase. came from West Prussia and I believe I have traced his family to the area around Thorn and Bromberg. These two towns are now Torun and Bydgoszcz, Poland and are about 26 miles apart. Both are on the Vistula (Weichsel) River. Links to this area are from old family photographs with the photographers addresses in Thorn, Bromberg and Danzig on the reverse sides.
Any information on the town(s) of origin of Rudolph and/or Amalie would be appreciated, as well as any information on Rudolph's parents or any connection with the surname Haase family. Please contact me at the below e-mail address.

Thank you

Warren G. Haase
janwgh@localnet.com
Oregon, USA

Revising my earlier post, Franz Grochowski arrived in America on May 13, 1873 aboard the ship "Johannes". Settled in Posen, Michigan in November of 1873 with his wife Agnes, and daughter-in-law Francisca. Received a Homestead farm from the U.S. Government. Franz and Agnes' son John Grochowski arrived in the United States on April 14,1877 aboard the ship "Main" with wife Francisca and sons Franz, age 2, and Stanislaus, age 6 months. This would suggest that Francisca left Posen to return to Poland, possibly in 1874, then returned with her husband and children.

Ohio Grochowski's

I'm looking for any information on the George and Rose/Rozalia (Szulc) Grochowski family of Toledo, Ohio. I believe that they would have belonged to St. Hedwig's Parish.

I know that there is some information available on Rose's Szulc side of the family, but I am now trying to look into George's Grochowski side. I do know that in some of the records that I have found, the name is misspelled as Grochowska, and even Growchowski. And this was on their children's birth certificates!

What ultimately happened to the family? How many children were there? The census information does not match the number of birth records that I have found. I do know that both Rose and George were born in Posnan, Westprussen, Germany/Poland.This was in the 1870's. He in 1878, and she in 1874.

Any help that anyone could give in shedding light on our mysteries would be very much appreciated.

Thank You , Jacki Wilson

Hello,
We are searching for family information on George Growhowski/Growchowski/Grochowska(sp?) from Toledo, OH who married Rose Schultz. So far as I have been able to find, they had at least three children, Pelagia, Kazmiera, and my husband's Grandmother, Solomae.

Other than this info, we have really been unable to find out much more due to the fact that in records the surname was spelled many different ways, and that my husbands family was not close at all, and so what little information we have gotten form them was mostly wrong. (We were always told that the family is of Polish descent - is this correct?)

I would be so happy to correspond with anyone with family info! It would be great to learn more about our family.

Thank you, Jacki & Joe Wilson (jwil805b@wmconnect.com)
