Hi Molly, Haven't heard from you in awhile. Hope all is well. Your Grogan side came from Luzerne Co. PA. My Gallagher-Grogan Grandparents resided in Kingston PA. abt 1875-1933. Wondering what other surnames are connected to your branch. I have Rowland, Crossin, Boney, Regan & Hoffman connected to my grandmother Mary Groden/ Grogan/ Grodin. Hello, My grandmother's maiden name was spelled in different ways on documents I've researched. They were: Groden, Grodin and Grogan. She resided in Luzerne Co.It's amazing how official documents can't seem to get the correct spelling. Good Luck, Larry

subsequent to Saliems' inquiry there has been a family reunion and reconciliation of some Grodens from Trinidad &Tobago
This was huge. Yes we've great grandmothers who were Irish (Prehaps Scotch). the spelling of the name is unique. So we may conciveably share a comon thread. And to the decendants of Bernard Groden who died in 1917 ,reports of my death were greatly exaggerated. And I'm back-- living on the east coast of the U.S. : >) stay light and the ancestors blessings upon you all.

I am a groden from Tulsa, oklahma. i dont know much of my family tree because i was adopted from a family from great britian. i know my grandfathers name was Gregory, like me. i have an aunt named Lisa Groden who lives in TX, and an aunt named Casey who lives in Catoosa OK. my mothers name is April, she lives in tulsa, and i have an uncle named William.

My father was Everett Fultz a brother to Winola!
I have just started the genealogy. My sister & I were raised in Alberta Canada by Frank Pottorff and his wife.
My sister was Winola also.

I have read about the "Growdens" in Byberry PA in a book entitled :The History of Byberry PA" It was writtend by someone with the name beginning with "Mc". I just can't recall his full last name. It is a "rare" book. Try your library. These Growdens owned property along the Deleware river. At least one of them returned to England.

And the Growdens come from the Bodmin Moor area of Cornwall, so they are probably not related.

My family are from Scotland and came to Canada in 1967
My dads name is William .Cant remember his dads name but i do know that my Uncle Leo Groden was head chef for Princess Margaret
My older brother Bill has his "recipe" book
My mom is a Coyle from Ireland so I think that Groden is probably irish or Scot

My dad William passed away in 94 and my mom Alexia is still alive (her maiden name is Coyle (irish)
I am thinking now that my dads side is irish as I cannot find any family history

I am searching for my husband's great grandparents.His grandfather was Edward Elmer Fultz born 1874 in Decatur,Indiana.We were told that his parents were Minnie and Everett but we just found on Edward's death certificate that his parents were Anna Groden and William Fultz.They were living in Zionsville,In 1898 with Mary ,Edwards sister.He also had a brother Charles.William and Anna was killed in a buggy accident shortly after Edward received a letter from Mary.Edward married Lydia A.Pottorff,Winola Clair their daughter married Wyman M.Lambert,my husband's parents.Would appreciate any information on William and Anna.

I don't know who my grandfather is; as the matter of fact I know nothing about my fathers side of the family. I do know my grandmother used to live on franklin avenue in brooklyn. (My fathers mother) In any event,

I am a Groden, also. In my family line, there are no Bernards or Wendys. Do you know your paternal grandfather's first name? That would be a great start. Just so you know, there are only about 500 Groden families in the USA. So, I think we are pretty much ALL related!

I'm trying to track a Philip GRODIN. His father was SIDNEY GRODINS of Chicago, Illinois and he had two sisters, Pearl and Anne. It is believed that he moved to California and changed his last name, either dropping the 's' and becoming Philip Grodin, or changing the spelling to Groden. He would have been born around 1905-1906.

I think that Growden spelling is a branch from England. I have read a book on the history of byberry penn. and a Lawrence Growden is spoke about as aland owner from England along with his son.

Hi Brdiget,

There were a father and son who came from England and settled in Byberry PA for some time. There names are noted along with a diagram of property they owned in Byberry in a history book who's authors name may have been Joseph P. Mc or Mac something. I wish I could remember. If I come across his name I will e-mail it to you. The book is considered rare.

Dear Mike: I have found out alittle more information that may help? John Groden of Westport, County Mayo Ireland, and his wife Anne Judge Groden had two children. John Patrick Groden born 1868 and Mary born 1-18-1866(my great Aunt and Uncle) I also believe that John dropped his first name and used Patrick and was in the CO. B,3rd N.Y. Volunters Geneva National Guard.

Dear Mike: My granny was Winifred Groden O'Malley. She was born in Benton Corners N.Y.about 1878. Her parents were born in Ireland. It was her fathers 2nd marriage ( first wife died leaving him with 2 children a son Patrick and daughter Mary. He and his new wife,Winifred, married in Ireland and moved their family to America where they settled on their farm in Benton Corners and raised a larger family. I am beginning to researchmy families heritage and have not found anything under the spelling of my name. I am guessing that somewhere down the line the "w" was dropped from"Growden" and families started to go by "Groden". Does anyone know if I should research this or not. I am a "Growden" and it looks as if the majority of my ancestors settled or are from the Southeast or South-central Pennsylvania or Northeast or North-central Maryland. Hello, My great-grandfather's name was John Groden. He married Mary Ellen Court. They came to the USA from Ireland, fist settling in Clinton Mass., then onto Worcester, Mass. I do not know any of his syblings names. Although I do have a list of a family that includes a John Groden, but I am not certain if it is his. Please e-mail me with any informtion. My Great-Great Grandmother was Ann Groden, she was born in Mayo, Ireland in approx 1861, I think her father was Michael Groden & her mother Bridget Gavin. Ann had 2 brothers called Austin Groden & Edward Groden & a sister called Bridget Groden, Im not sure what became of them all but Ann moved to Newcastle Under Lyme & in 1889 married my Great-Great Grandfather Matthew Burke. Do you think our two Groden families have any connections?
