Ronald Wren is someone you might reach out to. He was the one who helped me and we were hoping that we were related. His Gross line was through his mother, a Matthews. He knew of my Gross kin. The odd thing is that his Brown cousins are also related to me through marriage of a Holland who was the second wife of my grandfather and the woman who raised my father. His John Gross spoke french or German but Ron made no mention of his being a free man of color. Ron and his twin brother are both small and very fair.
