Re: Gross/Groce
Hello Ed: Your posting was forwarded to me by a Cousin who
I have been working with in tracing our ancestor Frederick
Gross, born 1768 in Maryland. We have evidence of his birth in 1768 at Woodsboro, Frederick, Maryland. His father was Jacob Gross, mother was Cathrina Glantz who died either at childbirth or shortly after, as Jacob remarried to Elizabeth and they had Cathrine Elizabeth in 1772. Could your Charles Gross/Groce be related to this line? Through the years the name Groce and Gross was used. Needless to say, we have never found evidence of Frederick's birth in 1765, only in 1768. The name John and John Wesley Gross has been repeated down thru the years. Thank you, Cliff Tyler & Bruce Gross
