I was glad to recieve such information on (Gross)ancestors born after 1840s and before 1946. My grandmother's
father and his father migrated to Mo./Ia./MN. within those
years. My grandmother married (Eubanks)around 1911
some of the (Eubanks) boys moved to MN. Now, as far as my gg-father born around 1843 marrried a Sarah Moore his first
wife, they had four sons and two dau. His second wife was
my ggrandmother Dinah or Diniaha b. around 1861
John A. Gross'es brothers/uncles there is no record of names as of yet. The surname GROSS, orginated out of MD. if
this helps.

I'm attaching a full GROSS report from my genealogy software that shows all my Gross ancestors (100's) in my tree. You'll see my name (Pam Mix) on the report. My GGG-grandmother was married to Michael Kraemer and were hotel owners in Minneapolis in the late 1800s. Also, to narrow it down just a bit, here are the names of some of the Gross ancestors in Minnesota that were born after 1840 and before 1946. That's the only way I could determine how to sort out which Gross' I know of so far that were in MN between the dates you described. Thanks!

Since this message was posted over 10 years ago with no response, it is now time to move on and ask another question.
Does any one on this board know who the father and mother of Elizabeth Jane Gross was? This name has been used interchangable as Groce and Grose. Elizabeth was married to Wiley D. Royal Sr. 07 dec.1886
Any help is appreciated.

Yes, I think I have Elizabeth Jane Gross (Groce) documented. She was born Elizabeth Jane Ball about 1844 in Hamptonville, Surry (Yadkin) County, NC to Nicholas Ball (1808-1857) and Drucilla "Lucy" Bell Gentry (1812-1865). On 17 Nov 1861, she first married John Gross (Groce), believed to be son of Henry Calvin and Lucinda Swaim Gross. I do not have a death date for John Groce, but based on age and Elizabeth's second marriage date, John Groce may have been a Civil War casualty, but that's speculation. Elizabeth Jane Ball Gross married William David Royal on 7 Dec 1866. I think the date 1886 in your inquiry is an error because their first child, Martha Jane Royal, was born 1867.

I have Elizabeth Jane as- Elizabeth Jane Ball b. 1846 d. 1923 buried at Asbury Methodist Church.

Her parents were Nicholas Ball and Durcilla Bell.

Elizabeth Jane first married John Gross/Groce- 11 17 1861 in Yadin County. John was the son of Henry Gross/Groce and Lucinda "Lucy" Swaim.

John was killed in the Civil war.

One problem that exsist is that Yakin County Heritage Vol II article 150 page 91.states that John never married and died around 1860.

I do not think this is accurate.
The 1860 census shows John living alone, living beside Henry Gross.

John Gross (1870-1945, siblings Ann (1867), Jacob (1872), Hannah (1876), Christina/Tina (1879), Louis (1881), Rickie (1876). Children of Johan Talmongros (1838-1907), immigrant from Germany. John married Lena/Helena Wolfe, and they ahd 2 daughters Florence and Edna Gross. Sound familiar to anyone?

There is a stack of letters, complete with envelopes...too many to copy as I don't have a scanner. There are several people who are interested in the letters and I just want to get them back to the right family. Can tell me the first names of any family members living in the years 1938 to 1946? What religon were they? Were any of the women in the military? Does pokegama mean anything to you? I am trying to get all the details I can to help me to decide who gets these letters.

YES! It's in my genealogy. I am in Minneapolis, Minnesota and have a lot of GROSS names in my family tree. A GROSS was married to my G-Grandfather. A lot of them were in Morrison County around Little Falls and Pierz, and then spread around Minnesota from there.

Is the GROSS or REISLING surname in your genealogy? Were they from Minnesota? I found some old letters from Gross and Reisling family members. The letters were found in California but most were sent from Minnesota.They were written between 1938-1946. If the location fits your family records let's talk. I would like to see these returned to family members.

Need help finding the first wife of John A. Gross

I'm looking for John's first wife,they did have children,she died. He married Dinah Hawkins in feb.1877 they also had children-18 in all.
His parents were George and Jemima Gross.
George from Maryland and Jemima from Kentucky(1810-20)My
great,great grandparents who lived in Missouri until death. John A.Gross(1842-1909).

The Gross boys named are Lawrence Gross, Warren Gross, Edgar Gross, Jacob Gross, and Paul Gross. They were on the 1916 High School football team along with my two Campbell ancestors.

Thank you for responding. My mothers grandparents have always been a mystery to our family. My mother's mother was raised by Edward B. and Annie from the age of 2yrs old. Her parents are very vague; because we are told that they died in a flood of some kind about 1900; but where it is not sure.Blanche V Dixon, my grandmother was left a trust fund that took care of her and she was also left shares in several theaters in Kansas. Which she later grew up in and managed. but Blanche died at the age of 44 yrs old. If you have any info on Edward B. Gross children it would be helpful. I do know that they had two daughters and as of 1900 only one was living according to the Kansas census of 1900. It is good to hear from you, llets stay in contact and maybe we can work this mystery through.

I am looking for a connection to Frances M. Gross. She was born in Philadelphia. Her parents (possibly August George Gross & Madeline Forthoffer lived in Maryland at one point. She was born in 1924. Married my father John Joseph Russo in 1949, divorced in 1964 (ish) leaving my father with my 3 older siblings. She then married a black man from Newark by the name of David Roberts. They had at least 2 children. Word was that she divorced this man as well. My sister and I have been searching for Frances for years (it is her mother) - can you help?

I am interested in finding my family roots. My gggrandfather was Abram and Eve Gross. They were born abt 1791 in Pennsylvania. They lived in Potter County, Pennsylvania. They had at least two sons: Andrew who married Martha and James who married (1) Elizabeth Toland and (2) her sister Emma Toland. James had three children with Elizabeth: Frank Alonzo Gross who married Ethel M. VanGilder in Port Allegany, William Gross, and Annie Gross.

Frank and Ethel Gross had 5 children: Kenneth, Hazel, Bernard, Clyde and Edward.

I don't believe that there is any link, that I know of at this time anyway, to the Frances M Gross you are seeking info on and my grandfather's family. My grandfather had 4 sisters, none of whom were named Frances. I have not come across the other names that you have mentioned either, in my research. If I do discover a connection, I will repost to this thread at that time.
