Hi I am looking for info on Mary M. Grounds born Sept 1853 in Ohio, she married James John P Kelly born feb 1853 in Delaware and they were married 1879 in Ohio. they had 3 children. 1 unknown, thomas Francis (Frank) Kelly born 9-17-1882 in Iowa died 11-2-1939 in Chicago Illinois, and Kathryn E. Kelly born November 1884 in Missouri. Per 1910 census Kathryn was 24 yrs old and widowed and had a child Myrtle born abt 1905 and was 5 yrs old and born in Missouri. We don't know much and have been searching for years. Frank kelly married Anna Markowitch from PA and had 2 children Bill and kathryn, we believe they met in PA. Kathryn we know lived in St. Louis Missouri for a long time because my dad and his sister remember visiting a house that had 2 statues of lions and the livingroom possibly oriental furniture. Anyone who can help me located anyone connected to the Grounds or Kellys I would really appreciate hearing from you...thank you

My grandfather's brother was Sydney Grounds, born Brisbane 1899 (?). He was fostered at Glenore Grove QLD until around 1915/16, when he enlisted in the AIF.

he may be the same one!

Do you have more on Cape Girardeau GROUNDS? My ancestor George A. Grounds, came from there to TX. His family from NC crossed TN 1799, and crossed Mississippi River New Year's Day, 1800. Floated wagons across, using barrels as pontoons.
Mother said Grounds, Shavers, Tyers, Masters, Fulghams, Rice, were all related before getting to Texas. I find all had NC/VA (and TN/MS/GA/AL)origins!
Have lost much gen. work - computer problems. Trying to recover. Can you help?

James (need confirmed)

As far as I know they are all living. Nevada is living in Blooming Grove,
Texas. And Fern is still living.

My husband is the step-son of Nevada's.

Nevada married Robert Knox Blake Jr. and they had 3 children: Bobby
Lamar, Mary Yvonne, and Robert Knox III

then Robert was killed in an accident

She then married Johnny Frank Hollifield Sr.
they had one daughter:
Suzanne Hollifield

Johnny Frank Hollifield Sr. was married prev to Juanita Mae READ and had
two children
Janice Elaine Hollifield
Johnny Frank "Bud" Hollifield Jr.----This is my husband.

Due to family circumstances----my husband and the siblings of Robert
Blake's do not have much of a relationship.

Hi,

This is my line, and I do know the parents of John, I have the names. I am trying to figure out a puzzle. Mary E. who is 6 in 1870 married Dan Jarvis in Anderson County. I have their marriage license. My gr grandfather states on his death certificate that his mother and father were Dan Jarvis and Mary E. Grounds. He was born in 1873. If this birth date is correct, he could not be Mary's child. So I have 2 theories. He is Dan's son with another wife. To support this Dan is 28 when he and Mary are married. Mary is 16. Also, in 1880 Anderson County census John and Sarah have added 2 children. I can not find John and Sarah in 1900. My other theroy, is that my gr grandfather was Mary's brother and not her son. Any help appreciated.

Disproof of Daniel Grounds as a son of Peter Grounds d 1837

It has been widely claimed, including by myself, that Daniel Grounds 1789-1871 who died in Hempstead County, Arkansas, was a son of Peter Grounds by his wife Margaret Crites.

This is now false. The "Administrator Box and Bundles" of Cape Girardeau Co, MO has the case of Peter Grounds who died 31 Oct 1837.

The heirs named therein are: Widow Mgt Grounds, Mgt Bollinger, Sophia Young, Barbara Bollinger, Eliz Stotler, Polly Mouser & David Grounds.

That's it. No Daniel even though he was still alive. Therefore, Daniel is not a son to this Peter.

Robert and Leta Fern Grounds actualy had six children you are missing Alice and Barbre. All I know is my grandfather's family came from Germany in the late 1800's. I will see if I can get a hold of my mom's half sister and see if she knows anymore infor than what I have on the Piltz's side.

It is very possible, this is a very uncommon name. My Mother's maiden name was Piltz. She knew very little of the Piltz or Grounds side. I do know that most of the Grounds were from Texas and that is where my grandmother(Grounds) met her husband, my grandfather(Piltz). My grandfather lived in Houston when he passed away. His sister is Irene Dunn (the movie star).Please feel free to e-mail anytime. Thank You!

It is possible as the last name Piltz is very uncommon.There is a meteorologist here in Oklahoma with the last name of Piltz. We have visited with him numerous times and he said that all of the Piltz's in the U.S. are somehow related. There is also a connection to the last name of Nelson from around the Sapulpa, Okla. area. I do know that they (Piltz) came from Germany! Where are you from??I will continue to look for more info. There must somehow be a connection as how can there be 2 men in the US with the name of John Henry Piltz?? Unless they were family!

My Mom is still alive her sister's name is Tommy. Their dad had a couple of brothers and my mom said one of them was Van and she thinks Lewis. She said there could be another one but she does know that Irene Dunn the movie star was his sister. My grandmother and my grandfather (John) seperated when my mom and Aunt were young. He did remarry and moved to Texas. My mom has another half sister and half brother who are older than her.Her half sister is Bobby Lynn and her half brother is Johnny Jack(he passed away a few years ago). Who was your dad?

I have some record of a Stephen Grounds and Elizabeth Rose, he was born about 1790 on Lincolnshire, England. From what I know they had 11 children as follows:-
John 1817, William 1818, James 1822, Sarah 1824, Margaret 1826, Mary 1827, Charles 1832, Charles 1833, Martha 1833, Anne 1834, Sussanna 1838.
I have not found a death of Charles born 1832 or whether Charles and Martha where twins. At present I have no further info and I have no idea if they went to Australia or one of there children did.

I just learned that my Greatgrandmother Johanna Piltz
(-Schroeder-Nash) was born in Holstien, Germany, and came to the U.S. in 1875. Her parents were also born in Germany.
My Greatgrandparents on my father's father's side were from Bohemia.
I was born in San Jose, California and I'm still here!

Do you know her sister's name? Do you know if your grandfather, John Henry Piltz, had a brother? And could it possibly have been Emil? I wish I had asked my father more before he died.

My dad was Clark Roessler. His Parents were John Roessler and Adelaide Schroeder. His mom, Adelaide,born in San Francisco, was the daughter of Clark Schroeder and Johanna Piltz.
The photo I have says
"Great Grandfather Piltz and John and Emil Piltz" I don't know if the man in the photograph is the boys' father or grandfather.
Unfortunately, it doesn't sound like there's any relation.

I have a photograph taken sometime in the 1800's that says
"Father and Emil and John Piltz" and "my great grandfather Piltz " was added to it later, but I don't know who wrote it.
I know my great grandmother's name was Johanna Piltz. She married Clark Schroeder and lived in San Francisco around 1883. I don't know where either one of them came from.
Might there be any connection to your family?
