Hi Angie,

The only way we are related is that I believe we come from the desendant of William Grover b: 1735.

To explain, can you please click on the link below.

http://www.theweald.org/N10.asp?NId=4620881

This website shows family tree back to the 1700's and I found it very useful. Down the bottom of the page you will find Jane Roda Grover b: : 16th Jul 1853 Danehill, Sussex
christened: 11th Sep 1853 The Holy Trinity Chapel.

Her Father is James Grover and her Mother is Sarah Ann Marchant. They married 13th May 1848 at St Andrew & St Mary Church, Fletching, Sussex which seems to be the only church around back then.

When you click on the link and find William Grover b: 1735 married to Ann Rowland b: 1740 right at the top of the page. You will see you are decendants of his son William b: 1759 whereas I am decendants of his son Samuel b: 1772.

If you go on theweald.org you are able to search any grover born in Sussex, Kent or Surrey. I am born Grover and I live in Sydney, Australia. Are you from Australia as well? I can see your surnames Giles, so you must be seaching your mums family history.

I do have other information on other desendants from the grover line however I am still yet to enter the information into my family tree program. There is just so much info :)

I hope this helps, and if you have any further queries, please email me at kim.grover@live.com.au. I would be happy to help.

Cheers,
Kim

Hi Kim

Rhoda Grover is my gg grandmother and I know her to be born in Fletching in 1853. On her marriage certificate to my gg grandfather Edward Giles, her father is stated James Grover.

I have come to the conclusion that Jane Rhoda Grover is my Rhoda Grover, and that she dropped the use of her first name Jane. One of her daughters is named Rhoda Jane Giles.

Are we related? Are you born Grover or is that your married name?

Regards

Angie

Hello Kim,
The Grover Line is my husband Nevilles.I m the one who does the family stuff. If you Google FLETCHING GRAVES you will find Ann Rowlands memorial. It looks as if she died giving birth to Samuel.Nevilles line goes,William 1735,William 1759,Thomas 1824,John Frederick 1856 Henry 1880,George 1906 then Neville 1940.As you may know people can,t get beyond William 1735,but i have strong feelings that they came from Glynde a few miles away.possibly William 1735 was the son of either Thomas 1700,William 1701 or John 1704.These were the sons of a yeoman John Grover 1677.Son of William 1638.son of Mr Grover 1607, Son of Mr Grover 1581.I ve got
other snippets about this branch if they interest you.To get back to why this family caught my attention.Yeoman John had a fourth son Richard.Born 1710 died 3 years later.William 1735 named four of his seven sons William,Thomas,John and Richard. His daughters were Phoebe and Ann Thomas 1700 married a Mary Saunders,William married an Ann Foster[I put my money on them] and John I can t find a marriage for John.If you Google PEAR TREE COTTAGE GLYNDE
you can read a lot more about them.
If you need more let me know and Ill try to help.
There are many Grover Graves in Fletching but the churchyard is very overgrown.
One more thing my son Shane s daughter is also called Kim,so you have a namesake in the family!
Best Wishes
Pat.

Hi Pat,

I believe I emailed your son earlier today, but read he is no longer following your family tree.

From what he has written, i believe we are in the same family tree. My 7th Grandfather was William Grover b: 1735, my 6th Grandfather was Samuel Grover b: 1772 - he has a brother William Grover b: 1759 (who I believe your decendants come from) my 5th Grandfather was Daniel Grover b:1794, my 4th was Daniel Chhantler Grover b: 1817, my 3rd was Arthur Edward Grover, my 2nd was Frank W. Grover and lastly my grandfather being Clive Grover.

I would like to see your family tree to see if we are connected in some way. If you are interested please let me know. My email is kim.grover@live.com.au.

Hope to hear from you soon.

Kim

Hi Shane,

My name is Kim, and I am a decended from William Grover b:1735. Your 5th Grandfather William b: 1759 has a brother named Samuel who was my 6th Grandfather. So I believe we are in the same family tree!

I was just on www.sussexweald.org and the information you wrote on ancestry.com matches what I saw on sussexweald.org. So I have family tree information on my side and I was hoping you are able to provide some information on your side so we can both expand our family trees.

What do you think? If you are interested, please email me. kim.grover@live.com.au

Cheers.

I have an Elbridge W Grover b c1816 in Mass. and he married about 1844 to my Sarah Paine, a sister to my ancestor. I show three children, don't know if there were others. Children were: Frederick B R Grover b 1846, Isabella Grover b 1848, and Maria J Grover b 1852. Being the given name isn't all that popular, I wonder if they are related. I haven't found parents for the above Elbridge yet.

There is a John Harrison Grover, born 1889 in Belmont or Swanville ME, in my family; he was my grandfather's brother. Some parts of this family did settle in western NY and the Midwest at various times, but I've no idea if he was among them. He may have been called Harrison or Harry, as my grandfather and father remember a Harry in that generation. The family on the whole, however, is very obscure.

Damon
I don't have my notes or the pictures in front of me right now but I did contact a guy who owned a funeral home in Ohio and ask him to contact a woman I believe to be the grandaughter of Mary Grover in the photo. I do not have her last name and she has not contacted me to claim the pictures. Maybe he never told her. He was also distantly related as I recall. I can send you a copy but it may take a bit since I'm in the middle of a few others right now. Hang in there.
Will

Dear Craig,

I am an art conservator in Chicago. Our firm, Parma Conservation, will be conserving Oliver Dennett Grover murals at the Blackstone Memorial Library in Chicago in the coming months. These murals, which date back to 1902, are arguably the most important murals in the city.

We are also very interested in Oliver Grover's history, and continue to do research. I have found a few pictures of Oliver at the Chicago History Museum website. Also the Ryerson Burnham Library at the Art Institute of Chicago has many online references to him.

We would like to prepare a book concerning the conservation of these important murals. It would be great if we could interview any surviving relatives. You can contact me at 312.733.5178 Or visit our website: www.parmaconservation.com and click on the contact link for my email.

I hope we can correspond. ODGrover is truly one of the greatest painters Chicago has ever claimed (though he is not well known today)

Most sincerely.

Peter M. Schoenmann
Head Conservator of Paintings
Parma Conservation, Ltd.

I see your Uncle is doing genealogy on the Grover Family. I have traced my lineage to Benjamin Grover of Grafton, Middlesex, MA (early 1700s) and then all the way to Thomas Grover in Chesham, Buckinghamshire, Eng. in 1514. Benjamin had five sons that fought in the Revolutionary War. If this connects with you Grover family, I would be interested in exchanging info. I know that most Grovers in the USA came through Massachusetts or Maing. Let me know...
gg22901@comcast.net

I have several of Oliver's paintings including large portraits of brother and wife, and a self portrait. Also some landscapes. Many other items from his home as well, as does the rest of this side of the family. I would be interested in any pics or other info related to the Oliver Grover, or Grover or Perry) family. My cousin. (and previously uncle), is/has been compiling a geneology of the family and would appreciate any info. The farther back we go, the harder it is to dig up records and facts. THanks!
