Kirstie Grue was the daughter of Olava Rostbakken, b. 1853 in Oversjodalen, Norway, May 25, 1823, and Simen Grue, b. April 14, 1823, in Os, Norway. Kirsti had four siblings: Thore, b. July 27, 1853, married Berit Mikkelson; Cornelius married Sina Brekhus; Olia married Mikkel Mikkelson; Sophia married Claus Grue. Simen and Olava Grue emigrated to America in 1868 with their cihldren. They settled first in Decorah, IA. Later, they homesteaded on the north shore of Stalker Lake, east of the town of Dalton, MN, where they lived for about 35 years. A Lutheran church in that area bears the name Grue.
Simen Grue, his wife, and several of his children moved near Camrose, Alberta, Canada. He died there May 23, 1903.
This information is extracted by one of my wife's cousins from the Thore Grue Family History, by Nels Grue. My wife descends from Lars Mikkelson, Berit and Mikkel's father.
