Dear Sir,
My Husband and I are blacksmiths who own and operate an ornamental Ironworks in Portland, Oregon. We own a piece of forging equipment known as a Little Giant Hammer, a tool used for forging. We recently discovered that our Little Giant hammer was first purchased by a Mr. Grunkemeyer of Burwell Nebraska back in 1920. The hammer was a wedding gift to us, and an invaluable item in our shop, in use every day. When we had the spring break(the original) My husband called the parts dealer who has all the original records from the company, and he told us who had owned it so long ago. We are also thrilled to know the name of the smith who first purchased this tool. It was bought for us by my parents near Ainsley Neb.
We are both curious if you have found any Grunkemeyers who were blacksmiths in Burwell? Both my husband and I are German Americans, and find this pretty neat!
Thank you for your time,
Sincerely, Heidi and Dan Klug
