My family is located in Southern Texas "The Valley" Rio Hondo, Harlingen, etc. and my grandparents were from Linares, Nuevo Leon. It's an unusual name as it is, even where it's more common, because it has Arabic roots, which should come as no surprise due to the region it comes from in Spain (Moors) but where I have lived the last 25 years of my life, Southern California, it's unheard of. Very rare. So, to all the familia and even those who are not sure, GUAJARDO is who we are, be proud and let's bring this noble name out into the world, let everyone know we're here!

Hey, I was just researching Emilio Zapata and I saw that he was assinated by a "Guajardo". I started reading the responces and I read one that said that the family "Guarjardo" lived in Laredo, Texas. My mothers family is from Laredo, Texas and their last name is "Guajardo". I would like to look into this more. I don't know too much about my grandfathers family but I could find out. My grandmother is still alive. I am excited to find out more.

Just found and read your postings and comments of 2001 regarding the Guajardos from Santa Rosa, Apodaca,Coahuila Mexico. My ancestors, Pedro Guajardo, b. about 1767, and Bartolome, born January 1701, were from Santa Rosa and they were also known as "Garcia". Also, their respective spouses Maria Rosa Bazan and Maria Margarita Rodriguez de Montemayor, were also from there.

Hi Melissa. I'm from México, Guajardo is a common last name in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon where i was born.

Ysidro & Ysidra Guajardo both were living in Alief, Texas (Harris county) on Stroud street. Mr. Guajardo passed away in 1981?
After 1995 I lost track of the family.
He had a daughter who still lives in Mexico (don't recall name)
Raynoldo, Daniel, Wilfredo, twins: Mimi & Dolly (do not know actual names) another sister after Wilfredo (do not recall name) I once viewed Wilfredo's birthcertificate and it indicated
that there were 6 siblings before him.

Buscando datos Guajardo me llamo la atencion el termino "Lic. Dinamita"... el tuyo sera de Monterrey, NL, Mexico?

Del que yo me acuerdo vagamente en mi niñez vivia en la calle Hidalgo, interseccion con Martin de Zavala. No tengo mas informacion de el, solo recuerdos de su reputacion de ser "una fiera"....

La propiedad de el llegaba desde la calle Hidalgo hasta el Rio Sana Catarina... y obstinadamente dividia las dos mitades de la Colonia Mirador en Monterrey... tenia una barda con alambre de puas y, con su reputacion (no se cual???) no nos atreviamos de chicos a brincar la barda. En frente de su casa habia la agencia de carros De Soto.... rama de la Chrysler en 'aquellos tiempos'...

Pero no tengo ningun dato sobre lo que publico.... etc.

Here's a 3rd Melissa Guajardo here who doesn't know what our last name means. I'm in California.

I have other Guajardo relatives in Texas, in Crystal City and San Antonio. I also have some in Modesto, CA and Chicago among other places.

Looking for more information on Raymundo Guajardo, born about 1876 in Lampazas N.L. Mexico. Died in 1948 in Brownsville area. Was married to Perfecta Palomino Orta, but his trail drops cold. We heard a rumor he had been married previous to Perfecta and may have another branch to research. But can't find who his parents or siblings were to continue. Hello everyone,
I submitted a DNA sample last year through National Geographic's Geneographic project. My haplotype was classified as J2 Semitic. This haplogroup originated about 10,000 years ago in Turkey, and spread around the Mediterranean sea.

The DNA analysis was actually performed by FamilyTreeDNA. So far they have informed me of the following matches.
12 of 12 - Garcia, no email provided.
12 of 12 - Guajardo, from Apodaca area.
25 of 25 - Garcia, from Nuevo Leon.
12 of 12 - Benichou. Lives in France with sephardic roots in Spain. We most likely share a distant ancestor from a time before surnames were used.

I was not sure what to make of the Garcia matches, but earlier this year I became aware of Pedro Guajardo Garcia (my oldest ancestor). Pedro was born around Monterrey about 1670. Some of his children and grandchildren took either the Guajardo or Garcia name.

The DNA sample kit is normally $149.00, but you can get a $50 discount if you join through the Mexico DNA project.

I followed the lead that I had, but found it was a different Ramon Guajardo.

I found this info in Archivo De La Parroquia De San Juan Bautista En Lampazos NL, 1877-1882. Bautismo De Hijos Legitimos Y Bautismo De Hijos Naturales. (LDS Film 605572).

Ramon Guajardo (9 days old), Baptized on 13 SEP 1887. Parents were Abraham Guajardo and Eufemia Quiroga.
Godparents were Porfirio Garza and Maria Ignacia (illegible).

Many of my ancestors were born in Monterrey. My GGrandparents (Ramon Guajardo and Guadalupe Ortega) were living in Mission about 1917. I'll check my tree in the next couple of weeks to see if they are related.

I tried to send an email, but it bounced back. The names you listed match up with names provided by my father's aunt Aurora (Dora). She would be Petra's cousin.

The names she could recall were Rumaldo, Ricardo, Pablo, Jesusa, and Ramon (my great grandfather).

Rumaldo children are Petra, Apolonia, Santiago, Heriberto, and Oscar. (I believe these names appear on the 1920 and 1930 US Census).

Ricardo married Josefa, their children are Pablo, Nicolas, Elvira, Evangelina, and Santos.

Pablo married Soledad "Chole", they had a child named Altagracia. (Pablo and Altagracia are buried in Pharr, TX)

Jesusa never married, no children.

Ramon married Guadalupe Ortega. Their children are Pablo, Luisa, Julian, Ramon Jr., Francisca, Rodolfo, Celestino, Lola, Eulogio, and Aurora. (Ramon and Guadalupe are also buried in Pharr, TX.)

Ramon Guajardo - Aurelia Trevino

I was research my Guajardo roots and found a marriage between Aurelia Trevino (born 16OCT1890,Paras,NL,Mex) and Ramon Guajardo (born abt 1886. Lampazos,NL, Mex). The marriage took place in Texas, about 1908. Aurelia's parents were Francisco Trevino and Juana Garcia.
SSDI shows Aurelia G Trevino (same birthday) died on 15SEP1967 in Brownsville. Texas Vital Records shows Aurelia J. Trevino died 8SEP1967 in Cameron County.
The Ramon I was looking for was married to Guadalupe Ortega. After looking at ages listed in the 1930 census I suspect his son Pablo (born about 1908) may have been from a previous marriage, possibly Aurelia's son.

I'm researching my Guajardo ancestors, and I'm at a stumbling block. The oldest record I found was a birth record for Jph. Franco Guaxardo Aldape, Christened on 06 MAR 1778 at Sagrario Metropolitano, Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico.

His parents are listed as Pedro Guaxardo and Catarina De Aldape. I could not find a marriage or birth records for these two people. I'm hoping someone will recognize these names.

p.s. Pedro and Catarina had another child, Jose Anttonio Guajardo Aldape, Christened on 09 JUL 1775 at Sagrario Metropolitano, Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico.

Found some new info that might help connect with those still searching like I am. I've got info as far back as my great-great grand parents. Great-great grand parents were Pablo & Norberta Guajardo.My Great grandfather Felix married Manuela Sanchez. Her parents were Desiderio & Juliana Sanchez. The point of orgin for all of them is Rio Blanco, Nuevo Leon. My grandfather was Felix born in Galiana, Mexico in 1913.
My father and I were both born in Texas. San Patricio Co. If any of these people sound familiar please respond.
