I don't know if your still interested in this line, but if so, then my family tree includes: Richard Guilliams b: 1705-VA, Edgecomb Guilliams b: 1742-VA, William George Guilliams b: 1772-VA, George William Guilliams b: 1817-VA, and Sarah E. Guilliams b:1839-IN (whom married my great grandfather) Nelson Swenson in 1859.

I also show an Adelphe (Hunter) married to Edgecomb in 1770-VA.

Henry m Susan Nelson 14 Aug 1842 and Sarah Kidd on 7 May 1864 after the death of Susan. To end the controversy over who was Henry's 1st wife I have a death certificate for a son of theirs that does list Susan as his mother.

My name is Stacey and my maiden name is Stover and my grandfather, James Charles, was Pete's brother. I am J.T.'s daughter.

I have found myself in the same quandry that you were in a few years ago - do you know the names of Pete's mother and father or her grandparents? I have come up with a dead end at her mother's maiden name that might have been Fortenberry. I have a link to a Frank H. Stover that was married to an Elizabeth Fortenberry but it lead me nowhere.

I would love to share information with you if possible. Pete and Boodle were always wonderful to my family and I miss all of them!

I don't know a lot about Laban Guilliams parents but I do know his father was born in IRELAND and his mother was born in PENNSYLVANIA....

Enlisted in Company D, 51st Infantry Regiment Ohio on 17 September 1861.
Was wounded at Stone’s River, Tennesseee and received a disability discharge Company D, 51st Infantry Regiment Ohio on 07 January 1863 in New Albany, Indiana.

He married his wife Margaret on April 12, 1863, 3 months after his discharge.

Here was Laban’s service history....

Fifty-first Infantry. - Cols. Stanley Matthews, Richard W.
McClain, Charles H. Wood; Lieut.-Col., David W. Marshall;
Majs., Nathaniel Hayden, John M. Frew. This regiment was or-
ganized at Camp Meigs, near Canal Dover, from Sept. 9 to Oct.
12, 1861, to serve for three years. On Nov. 3 it went by rail
to Wellsville on the Ohio river and was there placed on trans-
ports and taken to Louisville, Ky. It was variously engaged at
different points during the first year of its service, but par-
ticipated in its first actual engagement in the fall of 1862,
when the regiment and brigade were sent out on a foraging expe-
dition, and at Dobson's ferry, Tenn., met and defeated
Wheeler's Confederate cavalry, who had by some means got in the
rear. The regiment lost 13 men wounded 3 of whom subsequently
died. The 51st left 32 of its number dead on the field at
Stone's River, 105 were wounded and 46 captured.

He was in the Third Division, 3rd Brigade under
Ltc Richard W. McClain at the Battle of Stone’s River.

1880 and 1900 Census: He could NOT read or write. His occupation was “Day Labor”.
In 1900 he rented a house with his wife and 2 daughters and “Maggie”, his grand daughter.

Feb. 6th 1903
Laben Guilliams, age 65, died at his home on N. 2nd street at 1 o'clock Monday night. Death was caused by paralysis from which he had been suffering for several years. Mr. Guilliams was a member of the 51st OVI in the Civil War. Mr. Guilliams leaves a wife and several children. Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 and internment made at South Lawn cemetery.
The wife was Margret (Cunningham), and the children Samuel, John, Sarah, Hannah, Mary, and Rebecca.

His grave is at 2BN LOT 21 R1 G6

Gravestone and Civil War records spell his Christian name as LABAN. Many other versions are seen, including Tabin, Labin, Laben, Nabin, and so forth.

Hello Robert Im not familiar with the names you mention but we do have guilliam family all over ohio so there is a good possability that this is the same line only I have not seen the s on the end but there are 5 differnt spellings that I know of in our family does the line I mention ring a bell with you on your line . James Thomas Guilliam (gilliam) and Mary Ann Robinson first wife and second wife margaret ann pate Guilliam (Gilliam) . Our Reunion is august 30th 2008 .

My paternal great-grandmother was Hannah Guilliams (wife of civil war veteran Laban Guilliams- Union Army). She married David Anderson, who was my great grandfather. These are the Guilliams of Coshocton, Tuscarawas and Muskingum counties in Ohio. I have set up a tribute to Laban Guilliams at findagrave.com.

I agree with you and perhaps we have "talked" before. Have marriages and children for most of Travis' children but nothing on Nancy and no children for Susannah.
Keep hoping someone will have them in VA and be able to move them back in time.

Hi,
I too am interested in this line. My g-g-g grandparents are Elizabeth and Travis Guilliams. I believe Travis is the brother of Allen and Henry, as they live next to them in Pope Cty., IL in 1860, and Travis is listed on the 1860 Mortality Schedule for Pope Cty. I have some info on their children (Joseph, Charles, Martha, Almary, Nancy and Susannah).

Im bob adams, kin to the Guilliams of Montague co. Tx.
I meet Boodle about one year before he died in Montague co. Tx. I guess about 10yrs. ago. They came to Texas from KY. in 1882 by wagon train and settled there.The Guilliams have alot of kin still living there.

Cindy, If you know when they were married, you could try getting a copy of the marriage license. Depending on the year, this could give you the names of his parents. Also a death certificate would give you the names of his parents and where he was born. If I had an age for them, I might be able to do better, but I did do a google search for Alva Guilliams and came up with nothing, but then did one for Guilliams and Dutcher and came up with 3 pages of hits. It might be work pursuing as families seemed to move together.

George Ira and Mary Sigmon Guilliams

I was hoping someone could help me find out some info on my Great Grandparents. They were George Ira and Mary Sigmon Guilliams of either Franklin or Henry county, Va. or both. She died in 1966 and he died in 1939 (I think). My Grandmother was their daughter Mildred Guilliams Doss of Fieldale,Va. Mary Sigmon was the daughter of Joseph and Liza Sigmon. I don't have complete birth, death, or marriage dates on any of them. And I'm not sure if "Liza" is short for something else or her true given name. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

I may have some info on Henry Houston. My mother in law's grnadfather was named Henry Houston Guilliams. He married Mary Amanda Coble. They had about 12 children, one of them being Alice Melissa Guilliams, my husband's grandmother.
