I am looking for the "Obit" for my Aunt, Ellie Aline Guillot-Daiz-McAlpine. Through the years we used to correspond at Christmas time. Her fist marriage was at the age of 18 to Domingo Daiz (1897- )who died. She then met and married my Uncle, Patrick J. McAlpine in Brooklyn, New York on June 28, 1942. After 10 years of marriage they separated but... never got a divorce. Ellie then moved back to Louisiana where she was a Cajun cook in the French Quarter. She would have been age 81 by Christmas 1987. The last address I have for her is: Ellie D. McAlpine, General Delivery, Bordelon, Louisiana 71320. At this time she told me she was in a Nursing Home in Louisiana but I can't find an old letter from her telling me the name of the Nursing Home. Ellie never had any children by her 1st. or 2nd. husband. I'm trying to find her obit so I can add the date to our Public Family Tree (Annmarie Bissonnette) at Ancestry.com. If anyone happens to come across the obit for Ellie Aline Guillot-Daiz-McAlpine, would you please E-Mail it to me at BlondiNativeAme3@Yahoo.com. I have tried everywhere, including the Social Security Death Index and cannot find her death date in Louisiana or her Social Security Record.

My grandad was staying with My aunt Margret at time of his death.
He was a carpenter by trade and taught mush of the work I do to day as a builder and general contractor.
Grandad supported us by teaching me how to work and be proud of the work we did.
He was to move in with me at my apartment the weekend He left this world.
He supported Barbara's kids for a while in Chester South Carolina.
I like to meet his family from Lousiana.
The last I saw his brother he was still plowing his farm with mules.
I don't know his name or any of the family.

Thanks for the information. Since that posting, I have finally been able to put Sylvester with parents, thanks to a family member who provided Sylvester's death certificate giving birthdate and naming parents, and through Diocese of Baton Rouge reference books.
For anyone interested, Sylvester Guillot was b. Dec 29, 1868 in Labadieville, Assumption Parish, LA . His parents are Marcellus Arcene Guillot and Marie Honorine Guillot.
Sylvester married first Apr 13, 1887 in Labadieville to Evelie Guillot. They had three children together. Evelie didn't die until 1962 (buried St. Joseph Cemetery in Thibodaux with her daughters).
Sylvester and Magnolia Stevens began having children in 1892 and by 1913 they had eight children together.
On Oct. 28, 1942, Sylvester dies in Lafourche Parish, LA and is buried in St. Lawrence Cemetery in Chacahoula, Terrebonne Parish, LA.

Pierre dit Dufresne, a native of Reims, France, lived in Pointe

Coupee during the 1750s. By 1785, three of his sons,

Joseph, George, and Mathurin Guillot moved to

Avoyelles, Louisiana where they established the Guillot

family. Most of the original caucasian settlers of Avoyelles

have French origins. The original 50 families who settled

in Avoyelles in the late 18th century mostly came from

Pointe Coupee because of a massive flood which destroyed

most of the colony.

Charles, I don't know very much about my father's family. His father was Pierre Guillot, Sr., from Simmesport (and later Marksville, I think!). His mother was Lena Lacour of Simmesport. I remember my grandmother talking about her brother, Murphy. Grandma Guillot was married to a Zimmerman prior to being married to my grandfather. She had two children from that marriage, Arthur (Snow) and Elvina (Bordelon, I think!). Then Grandma Guillot had my father, Pierre Guillot, Jr., Ruth Mary DeBlanc, Anna Belle Couvillion, and Albert Joseph Guillot.

If any of this makes sense to you. Let me know. I'll try to tell you more.

Paulin Guillot was born August 19, 1868. Sone of Colin Guillot and Marie Louise Paget. I am a descendent of Colin also. My line comes from Leon Guillot Sr., Paulin's brother. Here is a list of Paulin's brothers and sisters:

Though I have no actual proof of any sort, be it in writing or through word of mouth, I believe that I too am a descendant of the Pierre Guillot dit Dufresne Family...but I'm not 100% positive. The only access I have of tracing my family history is through the Internet, which sometimes can be inaccurate. So if someone can validate what I think to be true, I would be more than grateful. The only thing I know for sure is that my grandfather's name is Raymond Guillot, and also that his father was Wilno Guillot. From Wilno Guillot I went backwards - from his father to his father's father and so on. So what I came up with was this: Pierre Guillot dit Dufresne-George Guillot-George Guillot II-Colin Guillot-Paulin Guillot-Wilno Guillot-Raymond Guillot. If anyone can validate this or clear up misunderstandings, I would greatly appreciate it. Oh, can anyone tell me what nationalities the Guillot name constitutes besides French? I heard that we may have Spanish, German, and Native American blood as well. (I know that the last question may sound a little foolish, but having my grandfather basically leave his roots behind in Louisiana and move to Hawaii made it difficult for his relatives in Hawaii to really get to know our true roots, being that we have no access to any records of any sort.) She is supposed to have married Pierre Mayeux and their daughter was Clarisse Mayeux. These folks were from Avoyelles parish Louisiana or possibly Pointe Coupee. I clicked on your name and I noticed that you are looking for some of the same surnames that I am looking for. None of the first names seem to connect but the last names are corresponding including yours. I have Michaud/Michot, Guillot, and Soileu. I don't have any dates just names to work with at this point. Can you relate to any of these names? My great grandmother is Rosina Selina Michaud . Her parents were Pierre Michaud & Clarisse Mayeux. Clarisse's parents are Zelien Mayeux & Poupone Guillot. It me again. I don't know if you remember this conversation it was over a year ago now but I was asking for the parents of Clarisse Mayeux well I've found them and there is a very interesting twist to this story. Her parents are Zelien Mayeux and Poupone Guillot. Can you make any connections here? You have any idea who these people are? My pedigree is so tangled. I have Jean Pierre Guillory married Marie Guillot (her parents: Celestin Guillot/ Marguerite Guillory). Their son Gerand Guillory(great grandfather) marries Rosina Michaud (her parents: Pierre Michaud/Clarisse Mayeux (also 2nd great grandparents). Now Clarisse's parents are Zelien Mayeux and Poupone Guillot (3rd great grandparents). How does Poupone tie to the other Guillots that I have? Is she from Celestin's line or Pierre's or perhaps another brother. I have a record of 7 sons in this family (Mathurin Guillot/Francoise Juneau) and 14 children in all.

Julie, I think we are cousins. Our grandfathers may be brothers. (Joseph Calixte Guillot and Julienne Malvina Guillot were the parents of my grandfather) Other children of Joseph Calixte and Julienne were: Ella, Sabin, (Joseph Eno b. 11-7-1890) Marie Onezile, Adrian Leo, Angelle, Rosalie, and Albert. Nine children in all. All born in Plattenville, La. and moved to Plaquemine, La. after the death of Julienne's husband Joseph Calixte in 1912. He died at the age of 39. My Grandfather was Perrin Joseph. He often spoke of his brother Eno. Was Eno married to Mathilda Elmire Devillier? Childnren of Eno and Mathilda were: Tessy, Yvonne, Eno Jr., Alvin, Alden and Judy.

Please dont let the spellings of last names hinder you in searching genealogy,as most people back years ago could not read or write and when something was recorded by some one else they wrote it the way it sounded to them. by the way one of my grandfathers was the lone suvivor of the Natchez indian massacare who was a Mayeux-mayeuax -Mayo.
