My grandfather came to Boston in 1886 at 2 yrs. old with his father William and mother Catherine (Downey). Eight other children were born here. But your name, Egan, is one that pops up around the area of Ireland where my family originates - Offaly/Roscommon, around Athlone area. There's a few Egans as witnesses to marriages and baptisms, etc. So there's some connection to the name of Guinan way back when. One thing I do know, those Guinans were a fertile group with ten kids!
