George P. Gula, 59,
of 8220 Mill Street, Girard, formerly of Sykesville, died Saturday, July 26, 2008, at his residence following a lengthy illness. Born January 25, 1949, in Sykesville, he was a son of the late George W. and Anna Spuck Gula. George was a graduate of Dubois High School and the Thaddeus Stevens Trade School in Ligonier. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Viet Nam Conflict. He had been employed as a sheet metal worker with Local 12 and was an instructor for the sheet metal apprenticeship program in Erie. George was a member of Sts. Cyril and Methodius Byzantine Catholic Church,
Local 12 Sheet Metal Union in Erie. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, NASCAR and Steeler football. George was treasured by all who knew him and stood as an inspiration to everyone. He was a generous and patient husband, father and friend, and was always there for those he loved. In addition to his parents,
George was preceded in death by an infant daughter Tammy Lynn Gula. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Linda Lockwood Gula; a daughter: Lisa D. Gula and her finace' Mark Landis both of Girard;
two sons: Brian P. Gula and his wife Heather of Lake City, Kevin A. Gula and his wife Stacey of McKean; three grandchildren: Wyatt, Abbie and Andrew Gula;
one sister: Mary Ann Ricardez and her husband Jorge of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla; and one brother: Joseph Gula and his wife Barb of Butler. Friends
may call at the Burton Funeral Home, 525 Main Street East in Girard on Tuesday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.. A Panachida Service will be held at the funeral home Tuesday evening at 8:30. A Prayer Service will begin at the funeral home on Wednesday at 9:15 a.m. followed by the Divine Liturgy at Sts. Cyril and Methodius Byzantine Catholic Church, 1022 Tilden Avenue, Girard, at 10 a.m. with Father Andrew Deskevich presiding. Burial will follow in Laurel Hill Cemetery with full military honors provided by the American Legion
