my family is still doing good, my great grandmother is 96 years old, i believe, but everyone else is doing great.

we just immigrated to the USA in the last decade, and now most of the family is here.

do you still speak Ukrainian and Russian.

Apparently we had in common great grandfather. I was told that he moved to United States to earn money, but he fell in love with my great grandmother and stayed here.

My grandfather also emigrated to the US around 1906. His name was Alexander Gula, a misspelling on my fathers school records changed our surname to Gala. It would be interesting to discover generally where in the Ukraine the Gulas are from. Anyone out there who might be able to point us in the right direction? Thanks. Ed

Hi -- Where in Ukraine did you immigrate from? My grandfather, Stefan Gula, left Ukraine for the Untied States in 1906. His village there began with a Z I believe.

Hello my fellow Gula's.

I just became interested in becoming to know the Gula family tree. I am 16 years old, and I live in Minnesota, USA. I was born in Ukraine, and migrated to Minnesota when I was 8 years of age. I've been researching about the Gula ancestry and found out that in the late 1700'th some of the Gula's split in Czechoslovakia to Poland and Ukraine. My Great Grandmother is 95 years old, and she is very ill and close to dying from old age. Her name is Anna Gula. She has two sons, one Dmitriy Gula and another son named Peter Tkachuk. She was married twice. Both her sons live here in Minnesota with us. Her daugher died from hypothermia at the age of 7 in Ukraine.

I've been talking to my grandfather, and he told me that HIS grandfather Abraham Gula, went to the United States around the years of 1914-1924 to earn some money and he was supposed to return. I'm not sure at what state he arrived. He came over here with a cousin named Paul Partyka. We have never heard from them since, and I was wondering if anyone could help me find them.

Hey I've done some research about the GULA family and the very first Gula's were from Czechoslovakia and and like in late 1700 some went to Poland and Ukraine. I'm part of the last generation that was in Ukraine, and most of us migrated to the States.

I would really like to find out about your forefathers, if you know any more information.

You should draft a generic letter with all known information and mail it to all GULAs in the Slovak white pages. Slovakia is not that big, so I doubt you will find thousands in the phone book.

Let me know if you come across a John GULA who married Maria LENKO. John and his first wife Helen immigrated to America. Helen died, and he then married Maria (Mary) LENKO, who is also a Slovak immigrant.

My name is Dean Gula from Winnipeg, MB. My Grandfather Benedict Gula immigrated to Canada with his wife Julia from Slovakia from a village near Bratislava (I think I have my own research to do). They had 5 children Stanley, Donnie, Joe, Anne and Rudolf most of whom remained in the Winnipeg area, with Donnie moving on to Alberta.

I too am looking to find the village from which my grandparents emigrated.

My ggf John Gulla emigrated from Krajna Bysztra near the Slovak/Poland border near the Dukla pass. I am aware that he possibly had contacts with family/friends in the possibly Hazleton/Northeast PA area. In fact my great-aunt married a George Ursta who emigrated [1912] to Beaver Meadows who we in the family have not been able to determine his village of origin in Slovakia nor his entry to the US. ?as to how she came to meet him since my Gulla family lived in Sharon PA. Although I am replying 8 years later. My grandfather and his sister were from Kocurow in the L'viv oblast. Very near Bibrka in Ukraine. Kocurow to my knowledge is today known as Kotsuriv. We may have some common lineage. Grandfather born 1892 came over in 1907. His name Michael Gula. His sister was Ksenka, later Americanized to Xenia. Feel free to contact me. Hi. I am still looking for Canadian branches of the Gula family. My father-in-law is Michael who married Jenny Hasiuk in the 30's around Myrnam, Alberta. They settled in the Cherry Point district in the Peace River Country of northern Alberta and had 8 children.

I am gathering that most Gula ancestors are from Eastern Europe. Can anyone give me more particulars on where their "family" is from?

My father-in-law mentioned Galicia, Carpathian Mtns . I have some reason to believe he was from Czecheslovakia.

I don't think there is a conection. My father is died in 25 years ago. And I know we have some family in Canada? His name was Alvin Gula and my uncle who is alive is Murry Gula, My grandmother's name was Lilian gula gorman. I hope that might help?

It is interesting as I am just starting the New Bedford Gula line which I believe to be connected to each other. You mention Mielec which is the place I was told these Gulas originated from as clothing was sent to Mielec by the parents in the 1940's. There are several Stanley's during that period. There is a John Gula buried at the Sacred Heart Cemetary on Fullerton Ave. in Allentown,Pa. His stone states that he died March 20,1913 at the age of 73.I'm looking for any info on Kathryn(Katie)Gula.Her married names were Sydor and Kiak.She died in March 1983.She was my aunt.

He was married to Anna Holod who died at an early age leaving 3 sons Steven, William and Walter. William would later marry my mother Catherine nee Planiczka. I am not sure about John. But my Grandfather Walter Gula made several trips to Polad when I was younger. I always thought he went to visit family.

My grandfather was also a Gula. From what I can gather his father was Peter Gula and lived in E. St. Louis around 1900. From the stories I was told the family origin was Poland. My grandfather and his oldest brother Stanley formed the Polish American War Veterans after getting back from WWII.

I also know my grandparents made several trips back to Poland when I was you however I am not sure if that was to visit family or not.
