Surnames: Gulledge
I would love to be able to verify where my g-g-grandfather came from, also who his parents were! and not just take someone's word for it! That is why I haven't gotten past him. There are several possibilites as to his Father, but I haven't seen it in any official records such as will's, census' or military records, so..... I'm stuck....unless anyone out there has copies of will's or military records (pensions) His name was Henry [Elijah]? Gulledge b.abt 1814 in SC (per census')
Some say Chesterfield Co, SC.

The Etowah County Heritage Book has info and a picture of Robert Henry Gulledge[ Henry and Charity's youngest son] he was b. Feb 14, 1859 in Calhoun Co. it says his parents were Henry Gulledge and Charity Finley, that he was 4 when Henry was killed at Vicksburg during the civil war and that his grave was never found. also from this book we learn that Robert Henry Gulledge grew up in Ohatchee(Calhoun Co) living with his sister Mary Gulledge Shank. So we are pretty sure that Charity Finley Gulledge died aft 4/27/1864 when she appeared on the register of deceased soldiers, as widow of Henry Gulledge. Robert Henry Gulledge m. Susanna Rebecca Cupp they had the following children etc.[from book]
Henry and Charity's daughter Nancy Gulledge m.Jefferson J. Alford (Alfords Bend Etowah Co, named after) during the 1870's they had the following children etc.

Everyone! has Henry's father as Elijah Gulledge, son of William Gulledge, son of Edward Gulledge II of Bladen?, son of Edward Gulledge, son of John Gulledge and Lucy Killingsworth?, WHO was the son of JOHN GOLLEDGE and Elinor/Elenor PINCHON, who's children were listed as Mary Golledge, Elioner Golledge and John GULLEDGE!!!!!???? WELL COME'ON EVERYBODY, WHERE IS ALL THE PROOF? I would like to see copies of all the original records (wouldn't ya'll??) some offer references, but their references are usually someone else's GUESS WORK!

I have checked Chesterfield SC census records many times and the first Gulledge's I found any way you can spell it is on the 1810 fed census they were =
Jeremiah Gullage with males 01101,females 0010
Dorcas? Gullage with males 00000,females 1220
so......maybe..... Henry's father was Jeremiah?
There was also 2 families of Findley's, anyway you spell it to
Duncan Findley with males 01101,females 0110
John Findley with males 20010,females 1000
